Yes. The Steam version of SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is marked Verified for Steam Deck and lists full controller support. That confirms official compatibility, but it is not a promise of identical frame rates or battery life in every scene. The collection includes two experiences—Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations—with different published settings and power estimates.

Steam Deck compatibility and what Verified means

Steam’s store listing marks SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS as Steam Deck Verified and lists full controller support. The game was released on Steam on October 24, 2024, by developer Sonic Team and publisher SEGA. See the Steam store listing.

Verified is the clearest official compatibility signal available here; it does not guarantee a fixed frame rate in every level or identical results across SteamOS updates and Deck hardware revisions. Steam’s listed system requirements are for Windows PC, not Deck-specific performance testing: they call for 35.3 GB of available storage, with a minimum target of low settings at 720p and 30 FPS and a recommended target of high settings at 1080p and 60 FPS. Those PC targets should not be read as promises about the Deck. Details appear on Steam Support’s technical issue page.

First launch and controller setup

SteamDB’s recorded compatibility configuration notes that an active internet connection is required during first-time setup. It also notes that an external Bluetooth or USB controller may not automatically become the active controller. If it does not, select it in the Steam Deck Quick Access Menu. This note concerns external controllers; it does not mean the Deck’s built-in controls are unsupported. See the SteamDB configuration record.

Settings and performance for each experience

The collection combines Sonic Generations content with a new Shadow story campaign. The two experiences can behave differently, so a single settings profile or battery estimate does not describe both. SEGA’s official overview, updated January 12, 2026, describes the collection and gives a 22.1 GB base-game file size. That figure is not interchangeable with Steam’s 35.3 GB available-space requirement.

The profiles below are recommendations from Steam Deck HQ’s 2024 review, not official SEGA settings or a controlled, current head-to-head test. They are useful starting points, not universal optimal settings.

Experience Steam Deck HQ suggested profile Projected power and battery life
Sonic Generations High graphics and shadow quality; 60 FPS in-game limit; FXAA; 100% rendering scale; 1280×800; borderless windowed mode; VSync. Steam Deck HQ estimates 11–13 W and approximately 5.5–6 hours for this profile.
Shadow Generations Custom graphics; Low shadows; 120 FPS in-game setting; TAA; ambient occlusion and local reflection enabled; high bloom and volumetric lighting; 1280×800 at 100% rendering scale. Steam Deck HQ estimates 20–22 W and approximately 2–2.5 hours for this profile.

The settings and estimates come from Steam Deck HQ’s performance review. The battery numbers are projections, not guaranteed runtimes or independent measurements for every Deck. Actual power use and runtime can change with the hardware revision, screen brightness, scene, settings, battery condition, and software versions. The Shadow profile’s 120 FPS setting is an in-game setting recommendation, not a claim that the Deck will sustain 120 FPS.

Storage: why the listed sizes differ

Steam lists 35.3 GB of available storage in its PC system requirements; SEGA’s support overview lists a 22.1 GB base-game file size. These figures describe different things, so do not treat the smaller base-game figure as the space Steam says to have available. Check the Steam listing before installation for the requirement shown for your version.
