No. Steam Deck Verified is a compatibility certification, not a promise of high or consistent frame rates throughout a game. Valve’s published criterion for playable performance is 30 fps at 800p in the game’s default configuration; that is a minimum certification bar, not a guarantee that every scene will hold 30 fps or that a game will run at 60 fps.
What the Verified badge checks
Valve defines Verified as a game passing its compatibility checks without requiring configuration work for users to access its functionality. The review covers more than performance: it considers controller support, whether controls show the right prompts, controller-accessible text entry, access to game content, launchers, Proton compatibility, display resolution, and readable interface text. The badge therefore answers a broader question—whether the game works on Deck as expected—rather than serving as a performance grade. The performance threshold
For Steam Deck’s default configuration, Valve’s published playable-framerate criterion is 30 fps at 800p. Valve does not describe that threshold as a measured average across a full playthrough, a guarantee for every demanding scene, or a target above 30 fps. It should be read as the performance floor used in certification, not as a complete report on how smooth a particular game feels.
Verified is not a 60 fps label
There are no separate Verified performance tiers in Valve’s checklist. A Verified game may meet the compatibility criteria without running at 60 fps, and the badge alone does not establish its frame pacing, performance at other graphics settings, or behavior in especially demanding sections.

Why performance can differ during play
A certification threshold is only one reference point. Frame rate and smoothness may vary with the scene, effects, settings, game updates, and other conditions. Valve’s checklist does not publish scene-by-scene frame-time data or a universal performance guarantee for all gameplay, so the badge cannot establish that every part of every Verified game will feel uniformly smooth.
Compatibility status can also change. In a March 4, 2022 Steam Deck update, Valve described ratings as snapshots that can change as developers improve controller support or address other issues, and as Valve fixes Proton problems or adds functionality. Valve’s current review material also describes re-reviews. A past rating is not necessarily the game’s current status.

How to judge a game if smoothness matters to you
Use the current Steam store page to check the game’s Deck compatibility status and any detailed notes, then look for recent game-specific performance reports. For those reports to be useful, check what was tested rather than relying on a frame-rate number alone:
- Date and game version: older reports may describe a different build or an earlier compatibility status.
- Deck model: confirm which device was tested; a result for another device category does not automatically describe Steam Deck performance.
- Resolution and settings: frame-rate figures are meaningful only with the tested resolution and graphics configuration.
- Frame pacing and demanding sections: a reported average may not show stutters or dips in the most demanding parts of a game.
- Typical play versus a brief test: note whether the report covers ordinary gameplay or only a limited section.
These are practical comparison points, not a benchmark system Valve uses to assign the badge. Valve’s certification establishes compatibility against its checklist; game-specific reports are needed to assess performance under particular conditions.

What the badge can and cannot tell you
