EA Play and EA Play Pro are different subscriptions
The confusion comes from Steam having an official store listing for EA Play. That listing does not mean that Steam sells the more expensive Pro tier.
| Feature | EA Play on Steam | EA Play Pro on the EA app |
|---|---|---|
| Available through Steam? | Yes | No |
| Available through the EA app? | Yes, where offered | Yes, on PC where available |
| Game access | A selection of EA games | Unlimited access to a library of premium-edition EA games |
| New-release access | Trials of select new releases | Early access to select new games |
| Other stated benefits | Member rewards and 10% off eligible EA digital purchases | In-game member rewards |
Benefits, available games, prices, and plan terms can change. The key platform distinction does not: Steam’s subscription is standard EA Play, not EA Play Pro.

How to get EA Play Pro
To subscribe to EA Play Pro on the EA app, use EA’s PC platform rather than Steam:
- Install or open the EA app on your PC.
- Sign in to the EA Account you intend to use.
- Open the membership area and choose EA Play or EA Play Pro.
- Select a monthly or annual plan, if both are offered in your location.
- Complete checkout through EA.
EA Play Pro is a PC membership. EA’s documentation also says that it is not available through Epic. Availability can vary by country; for example, EA’s current PC upgrade information states that EA Play Pro is not available in Brazil.
Can a Steam purchase or linked EA Account unlock Pro?
No general entitlement transfer should be assumed. Buying an EA game on Steam, linking your Steam and EA Accounts, or subscribing to standard EA Play through the EA app does not automatically give you EA Play Pro benefits in Steam.

Linking accounts is commonly required to launch some EA games purchased through Steam, but account linking is not the same thing as transferring a subscription between storefronts. EA’s platform-specific documentation does not describe a general mechanism that moves EA Play Pro access to Steam.
What Steam actually sells
Steam’s official EA Play listing describes the standard membership as providing access to a selection of EA games, trials of select new releases, member rewards, and a 10% discount on eligible EA digital purchases. The captured U.S. listing showed a starting price of $5.99 per month.
That price is a dated U.S. page snapshot, not a worldwide or permanent price. Your price may differ because of country, currency, taxes, promotions, or later plan changes. Check the Steam listing at checkout for the current terms.

PC Game Pass with EA Play may make sense if you want EA Play alongside a broader PC game catalog. However:
- It provides standard EA Play, not EA Play Pro.
- It does not convert into EA Play Pro.
- You access the included EA Play benefit on Windows through the Xbox app and the required EA account or EA app setup.
- The catalog, pricing, plan names, regional availability, and included benefits may change.
The captured U.S. Microsoft page showed PC Game Pass at $13.99 per month. Treat that figure as historical price context rather than a current universal price, and verify the plan shown for your country before subscribing.

Which option should you choose?
- Choose Steam EA Play if you want standard EA Play benefits and prefer to manage the subscription alongside your Steam library.
- Choose EA Play Pro through the EA app if premium-edition access and the Pro catalog are the reason you are subscribing. Steam cannot provide that tier.
- Choose PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you want standard EA Play bundled with Microsoft’s wider game-subscription catalog and the plan is available in your region.
Bottom line
Steam offers EA Play, not EA Play Pro. EA Play Pro is a separate PC membership obtained through the EA app, subject to regional availability. A Steam EA Play subscription, a linked EA Account, or a Steam-purchased EA game does not turn into EA Play Pro. If you need the Pro tier, subscribe through EA; if standard EA Play is enough, Steam and PC Game Pass are separate alternatives.
