Its official feature information does not advertise controller or gamepad support. The game does save certain progress automatically, but that is in-game saving—not the same thing as Steam Cloud synchronization. SteamDB does not list Steam Cloud for the title, so you should not assume that progress will follow you to another PC.
The game is Steam app 2699930, developed and published by Reno Games, and released on January 2, 2024. The practical consequences of each feature are different, so the sections below separate multiplayer, input support, local saves, and cloud transfer.

Is The Penguin Horror multiplayer?
It is documented as single-player
No. The available Steam metadata classifies The Penguin Horror: Legacy of The pengcasso as single-player. It does not list multiplayer, online co-op, local co-op, or a versus mode. That means the museum break-in is designed as a solo experience: one player controls the penguin and handles the stealth, exploration, and painting-recovery objectives.

Pengcasso is a penguin painter whose stolen paintings are displayed in a human museum. You enter the museum, avoid guards, and retrieve the paintings. Nothing in the listed features indicates a second playable character, a shared session, matchmaking, or an invite system.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What “single-player” means in practice
- You should plan to play alone rather than look for a friend-invite or lobby option.
- There is no documented way for another person to join your run as a co-op penguin or helper.
- Any progress you make belongs to the local game session and its save data, not to a shared online profile.
If you are specifically shopping for a cooperative horror game, this title does not meet that requirement on the evidence available for its Steam release.
Does it support a controller or gamepad?
Controller support is not officially confirmed
Steam’s researched feature information does not advertise controller support for this game. That is different from a statement that every controller definitely fails: an unlisted feature may work incidentally through input remapping or a particular device, but there is no official promise to rely on.
Accordingly, do not treat the game as confirmed compatible with an Xbox controller, PlayStation controller, Steam Deck controls, or a generic USB gamepad. The safe expectation is the input method documented for the Windows PC release—keyboard and mouse—unless the store page or a later developer update explicitly adds controller support.

How to check before you buy
- Open the game’s Steam store page and inspect the feature and controller-information areas.
- In your Steam library, open the title’s properties and review any controller-related information shown by the client.
- If you already own the game, connect your preferred gamepad before launching and check whether the game exposes a controller layout or input settings.
- Do not interpret Steam Input remapping as native support. Steam can translate controller buttons into keyboard and mouse commands even when a game has no official gamepad implementation.
These checks can tell you whether your current setup is usable, but they do not change the official status: controller compatibility is not advertised or confirmed in the researched metadata. If a gamepad is essential to your purchase decision, wait for an explicit developer or store-page confirmation rather than assuming that a remapped layout will work reliably.

Does The Penguin Horror have save games?
Automatic in-game saving was added
Yes, the game has automatic progress saving. A January 7, 2024 Steam update states: Your game progress will now be automatically saved under certain circumstances.
The same note identifies the progress covered by that change: the number of paintings acquired in each area and progress on crow quests.
This tells you that the game can record meaningful objective progress without requiring you to create a manual save file at every step. It does not say that every moment, position, guard state, or temporary event is saved. The wording “under certain circumstances” is important: the patch note establishes the existence of automatic saving and names the tracked objectives, but it does not promise continuous recording of every action.
What the patch note specifically names
- Paintings acquired in each area: the game tracks how many paintings you have recovered in the individual areas.
- Crow-quest progress: progress on the crow-related quests is included in the automatic save data.
Those are the saved elements explicitly identified by the January 7 update. Avoid treating the note as a guarantee that all other gameplay states are preserved in exactly the same way.

Are those cloud saves?
Automatic saving and Steam Cloud are different systems
No documented evidence connects the automatic save feature to Steam Cloud. Automatic in-game saving means the game writes progress on the computer where you are playing. Steam Cloud is a separate Steam service that uploads supported save files and can synchronize them between computers using the same account.

SteamDB’s feature record does not list Steam Cloud for The Penguin Horror: Legacy of The pengcasso. Therefore, the accurate description is automatic local progress saving, with Steam Cloud not listed. Do not read the January 7 patch note as a promise of online backup, account-based recovery, or cross-device synchronization.
What this means when changing computers
If you install the game on another Windows PC, you should assume that your paintings and crow-quest progress will not appear automatically unless you have independently transferred the relevant local save data. The available feature information does not establish a supported transfer method, a cloud-backup policy, or a guaranteed save-file location.
Before replacing a drive, reinstalling Windows, or handing the game to another machine, treat the local save as data you may need to preserve yourself. Exit the game normally, allow Steam to finish any update, and make a backup of the game’s local save data if you can identify it on your system. Because a verified save-file path is not provided in the available documentation, do not delete folders or rely on a guessed directory.
How to verify the save and cloud status on your installation
Check Steam’s listing
- Open the game’s Steam store page and look at the listed features. A Steam Cloud badge or feature entry would be evidence of synchronization; its absence means you should not assume the service is enabled.
- Open the title’s library properties and inspect the General section for a Steam Cloud setting or synchronization status.
- After playing, close the game normally and relaunch it on the same PC. This checks that the automatic local save is being written in your installation, but it does not test cross-device syncing.
Test a second computer only if you have a backup plan
A clean installation on another PC is not a safe experiment if your progress matters. The documented feature set does not guarantee cloud recovery. Preserve your original local data first, then test only with the expectation that you may need to restore that backup manually.

What to expect during a play session
Solo play and stealth objectives
The game’s structure combines solo exploration with stealth. You enter the museum, avoid guards, and recover Pengcasso’s paintings. Since multiplayer is not listed, there is no partner who can distract guards, carry objectives, or continue the session if you stop playing.
Progress checkpoints rather than a universal manual-save promise
The automatic-save update is most useful for the objective progress it names. Recovering paintings in an area and advancing crow quests are the clearest indicators that the game has something to record. The update does not define a player-controlled save-anywhere system, so you should not assume that pausing at an arbitrary point creates a restorable checkpoint.

Will my progress follow me to another PC?
Do not count on it. Automatic local saving is documented, while Steam Cloud is not listed. Transfer is not guaranteed.
What should I back up?
The January 7 update explicitly names paintings acquired in each area and crow-quest progress. Preserve the game’s local save data before reinstalling or moving systems, but use a verified location rather than guessing one.
Bottom line for prospective players
The Penguin Horror: Legacy of The pengcasso is a solo Windows Steam game, not a multiplayer horror title. Controller support is not officially advertised, so keyboard-and-mouse play is the only dependable expectation unless the developer later documents gamepad compatibility. The game does automatically save certain progress—specifically area painting counts and crow-quest progress—but Steam Cloud is not listed. That makes the save feature useful on the same PC while leaving cross-device recovery uncertain.
