No. The Sonia Style Costume is a cosmetic outfit for Rose in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. It does not improve statistics, alter damage or health, add abilities, change weapons, or modify how the game plays. The Konami Code unlocks the outfit, and you equip it through Pause menu → System → Character Skin.
What the Sonia Belmont skin actually is
Sonia Style Costume is an alternate appearance for Rose, the game’s playable protagonist. It is not a second character slot and does not turn Rose into a separately playable Sonia Belmont. When selected, Rose remains the character whose progression, equipment and abilities you are using; only her presentation changes.

What changes on screen
Hair and clothing
Rose’s orange hair is replaced by blonde hair. She wears a green, Sonia-inspired outfit with brown boots. These changes are visible while exploring and fighting, so the alternate design is not limited to a menu portrait.

The cursed arm’s appearance
The visible cursed arm is absent while the costume is equipped. This is an appearance change to Rose’s model, not the removal of the arm’s underlying gameplay functions. The game still treats Rose as the same character with the same abilities and equipment systems.
Combat and cutscenes
The Sonia look is used during combat and in cutscenes. You do not switch back to Rose’s default model for story scenes or ordinary encounters simply because an action begins. The costume therefore changes the character’s on-screen identity throughout normal play, while leaving the rules governing that play intact.
What does not change
Equipping Sonia Style Costume does not create a stronger or weaker version of Rose. No independently published numerical stat changes have been reported for the skin. The following parts of Rose’s game state remain governed by the normal Rose systems:

- Damage and health: The costume does not provide a damage multiplier, extra health, armor or a defensive penalty.
- Weapons: Rose keeps the same weapons and their normal behavior. The outfit does not add a Sonia-exclusive weapon or alter weapon power.
- Abilities and Arcana: Rose’s abilities remain available under the same conditions. Boss-derived Arcana are still Rose’s Arcana rather than a Sonia moveset.
- Relics: Relic effects and their interactions are unchanged.
- Movement and whip action: The traversal and combat systems remain the ones designed for Rose. Konami describes the game’s whip action as letting the player move freely “like a trapeze artist”; the costume does not change that movement model.
In practical terms, a player who equips the outfit should deal the same damage, survive the same amount of punishment, use the same equipment and perform the same movement techniques as a player wearing Rose’s default appearance.

Is Sonia a playable character?
No. Sonia appears as the inspiration for an alternate Rose costume, not as an independently selectable fighter. The title-screen code unlocks the Sonia Style Costume, and the in-game Character Skin menu applies it to Rose. Because there is no separate Sonia character entry, you cannot start a Sonia campaign, assign Sonia different weapons or build Sonia with different Arcana and relics.
How to unlock Sonia Style Costume
The unlock uses the classic Konami Code entered at the game’s title screen. Enter the directional sequence first, then press the final two buttons used by your platform.
- Go to the title screen before loading into gameplay.
- Press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
- Press the platform-specific final two buttons shown below.
- Wait for the unlock confirmation message. If the message appears, the costume has been added to Rose’s available skins.

The directional portion is the same across these examples; only the last two confirmation buttons change with the control scheme. The Xbox/Nintendo, PlayStation 5 and PC inputs above are the combinations documented in the October 16, 2026 Konami Code guide. If your platform uses a different controller layout, use the equivalent confirm buttons for that platform rather than assuming the PlayStation or keyboard pair.

- Enter gameplay and open the pause menu.
- Choose System.
- Select Character Skin.
- Choose Sonia Style Costume from the available options.
- Return to the game and verify that Rose’s hair, clothing and arm appearance have changed.
The menu path is System → Character Skin; it is not an equipment slot inside the weapon, Arcana or relic menus. Changing the skin also does not reset or replace any of those items.
What to check if the outfit does not appear
The code was entered after leaving the title screen
The unlock sequence is documented for the title screen. If you entered it after loading a save or while paused, return to the title screen and enter the full sequence again from the beginning.
A button was pressed in the wrong order
The complete order is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, followed by the two platform buttons. A single extra direction or a missed input can prevent the confirmation message. Re-enter the sequence deliberately rather than continuing from the point where an error may have occurred.
The final buttons do not match the platform
Use B then A on the documented Xbox/Nintendo layouts, Square then Circle on PlayStation 5, or Shift then Space on PC keyboard. Controller remapping can change which physical buttons perform those actions, so check your active control layout if the expected pair does not register.

The unlock message appeared but the skin is not selected
Unlocking does not automatically put Rose in the Sonia outfit. Open the pause menu, go to System, enter Character Skin, and select the costume manually.
The model changes but the player expects new powers
That result is normal. The outfit is designed to change Rose’s visual model, including the visible cursed arm, while retaining her existing combat and progression systems. Test the costume by checking its appearance in a fight or cutscene, not by looking for a new stat panel or ability list.
How Sonia Style Costume compares with gameplay-affecting upgrades
A skin and a weapon, Arcana or relic upgrade occupy different roles. Use the following distinctions when deciding what you have unlocked:

Why the skin can look like a mechanical change
Removing the visible cursed arm can make the costume appear to represent a different combat state. In Belmont’s Curse, however, the arm’s appearance and the systems attached to Rose are separate. The model is replaced for the costume, while the underlying whip action, weapons, boss-derived Arcana and relic effects continue to operate as Rose’s systems.

The same distinction applies to the blonde hair and green clothing. They communicate Sonia’s visual identity, but they do not signal a hidden difficulty modifier, alternate attack timing or different traversal physics. If an attack feels different after changing skins, the difference is not an effect documented for this costume; check your equipped weapon, Arcana, relics or control settings instead.
Release and documentation dates
Konami lists Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse with a release date of October 15, 2026. The skin information was updated by AllThingsHow on October 17, 2026, and Shacknews published its Konami Code instructions on October 16, 2026. Those dated references establish the unlock process and cosmetic-only behavior available for the 2026 release information.
No independently published numerical comparison—such as a percentage damage bonus, health increase, movement-speed change or altered cooldown—has been reported for Sonia Style Costume. Claims that the outfit secretly improves statistics are therefore unsupported by the documented information.
Bottom line for players
Use Sonia Style Costume if you want Rose to resemble Sonia Belmont during exploration, combat and cutscenes. Do not equip it expecting a stronger build, a different moveset or a new playable character. Enter the Konami Code at the title screen, confirm the platform-specific final buttons, then select System → Character Skin → Sonia Style Costume. Your Rose save, weapons, Arcana, relics, abilities and gameplay rules remain the same.
