Yes. Blizzard describes the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza as a weekly World of Warcraft tournament held Sundays at 14:00 server time in Stranglethorn Vale. During the event, the first three players per realm to turn in 40 Speckled Tastyfish to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay win. Availability and schedules can vary by game edition and realm, so check your in-game calendar or event announcement.
When and where does the tournament happen?
Blizzard’s Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza event page lists the competition every Sunday at 14:00 server time in Stranglethorn Vale. While it is running, players can fish for Speckled Tastyfish in pools around Northern Stranglethorn and the Cape of Stranglethorn.
The stated time is server time, not a single worldwide local time. Blizzard’s page does not establish a current schedule for every edition and realm, so confirm that the event appears for your version before planning around it.
How do you compete?
- During the event, fish eligible pools in Northern Stranglethorn or the Cape of Stranglethorn for Speckled Tastyfish.
- Collect 40 Speckled Tastyfish.
- Bring the fish to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay. The first three players on each realm to complete the turn-in win.
If you do not place, Blizzard says you can sell the fish to Jang for gold.

Does the event exist in every WoW version?
The event has a long history, but its availability should be tied to the edition in question. Blizzard’s 5.1: Landfall notes documented the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Extravaganza’s return as a Sunday event with three winners. In May 2025, Blizzard announced that it was becoming available in WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition Phase 4.
Blizzard’s August 4, 2025 hotfix notes address Stranglethorn Vale fishing pools spawning correctly in Mists of Pandaria Classic; that is a pool fix, not confirmation of the tournament’s current schedule. These announcements do not establish a universal October 2026 schedule or identical rules for every live and Classic realm. Check the calendar or event details in your own edition.
