No separate Xbox app marketplace for iPhone is confirmed in Microsoft’s cited announcement. Xbox said in April 2025 that players would be able to buy games and add-ons, join Game Pass, and redeem Perks through the Xbox mobile app. That is a purchase feature inside an app distributed through Apple’s App Store—not an Xbox-run store for downloading iPhone apps.
For iPhone users, the distinction matters: Xbox app purchases, Apple-authorized alternative app distribution in eligible regions, and Xbox Cloud Gaming are three different things.
What Microsoft announced for the Xbox mobile app
On April 16, 2025, Xbox announced a staged rollout of mobile purchasing. It said players would soon be able to buy games and add-on content, join Game Pass, and redeem Perks in the Xbox app. The rollout was to begin with beta users on iOS and Android, then expand through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Xbox’s announcement does not establish current availability for every country, account, or iPhone user; check the app and your storefront for the options available to you.
That announcement describes buying Xbox-related products and benefits through the Xbox app. It does not announce an independent Xbox marketplace that distributes iPhone apps. A storefront or purchase section inside an app should not be confused with an app store that installs other apps.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Three different ways Xbox and iPhone can meet
| Experience | What it does | Availability stated by the cited source | What it is not |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox app purchases | Buy games and add-ons, join Game Pass, and redeem Perks in the Xbox mobile app. | Xbox described a staged iOS and Android rollout in April 2025; that announcement does not give a current country-by-country availability list. | A standalone Xbox marketplace for installing iPhone apps. | Alternative iPhone app distribution | Install apps through eligible alternative marketplaces or authorized developer websites. | Apple documents regional eligibility and account and location requirements; availability is not worldwide. Apple Developer and Apple Support | An Xbox store unless Xbox actually makes one available through an eligible distribution route. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | Stream select games to an iPhone through a supported browser. | Xbox’s cited guidance specifies Game Pass Ultimate membership and a supported browser. Xbox, September 25, 2024 | A native app marketplace or local installation of Xbox console games. |
Can you install another app store on an iPhone?
Apple documents alternative app marketplaces and developer web distribution for eligible users, with regional rules rather than a single worldwide option. As of October 4, 2026, Apple’s support page says alternative marketplaces can be installed by users in the European Union, Brazil, and Japan, subject to physical-location and Apple Account region requirements. Review Apple’s current instructions to confirm eligibility and the route available where you are.
Apple’s developer documentation says its EU business terms were updated on August 18, 2026, and unified terms took effect October 1, 2026. It describes the current choices and requirements for distributing apps in the EU. Earlier coverage of EU fees may no longer reflect those terms: Apple says the Core Technology Fee was replaced by a Core Technology Commission under the new terms. See Apple’s EU developer documentation for the current details.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Alternative distribution also changes who handles parts of the experience. Apple says it does not manage alternative marketplaces and has limited ability to help with issues involving their apps, payments, refunds, privacy, or safety. It also notes that some App Store purchasing and family features are not supported in the same way. These are Apple’s stated limitations; the details can depend on the distribution route.
Can you play Xbox games on an iPhone?
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a separate option from both app purchases and app-store distribution. Xbox has described streaming select games to iOS through a supported browser for Game Pass Ultimate members. The cited Xbox guidance does not mean that console games are installed locally on the iPhone, and it does not establish that every game is streamable.

A mobile gaming controller can be useful for physical controls while streaming, but the cited Xbox material does not certify a particular controller or iPhone combination. Check compatibility for your phone, controller, and game before buying; a controller is not required to make purchases in the Xbox app.
What Microsoft’s recent mobile releases do—and don’t—show
On September 30, 2026, Microsoft announced Microsoft Jewel, a standalone casual game for iOS and Android that supports Xbox achievements and Game Pass benefits. That demonstrates Microsoft is publishing mobile games, but it is not evidence that Xbox has launched an alternative iPhone marketplace. Microsoft’s announcement concerns the game, not a store for distributing other apps.

What happened with the EU app-store rules?
On April 23, 2025, the European Commission issued a preliminary view that Apple should allow third-party app stores on iOS and direct web downloads, and that Apple’s then-current contract terms and installation conditions did not comply with the Digital Markets Act. This was a dated preliminary finding, not a current final ruling. Apple’s later developer documentation records updated EU terms effective October 1, 2026; for the terms now described by Apple, consult its current EU guidance. The Commission’s statement is available on its DMA portal.
