The developer confirmed adding Denuvo Anti-Cheat in a December 27, 2021 update, but the current Steam store page does not mention it and no later official removal or continued-use confirmation was found in the retrieved announcement results. That leaves the current build unresolved: the store-page omission alone does not prove Denuvo was removed.
What the developer confirmed in 2021
In its December 27, 2021 Quality of Life update, Zero Hour’s developer, AttritoM7 Productions, said Denuvo Anti-Cheat had been implemented. The update described its use by game mode:
- Quick Match: Denuvo Anti-Cheat was required.
- Custom Match: Denuvo Anti-Cheat was optional.
- Co-op and Training Ground: The developer said these modes would not be affected.
The update’s FAQ said Denuvo Anti-Cheat was installed when a player accessed Quick Match, did not start with the computer, and could be uninstalled through Windows’ Add or Remove Programs. These are the developer’s statements about the 2021 implementation, not a guarantee about the current build.
Why the current status is still unclear
The current official Steam listing describes Zero Hour and its features but does not mention Denuvo. The retrieved official announcement results did not surface a later notice confirming removal or continued use. Neither silence establishes what is present in the game today.
#1 Best Overall
- Expansion pack for popular strategic modern combat game
- 30 new units and 20 new upgrades
- New gameplay mode versus nine AI generals
- 15 new missions
- For one or more players using LAN or Internet connection
A July 2023 Steam discussion includes player reports that Quick Match prompted Denuvo installation. Those reports help explain why players ask whether it is still in the game, but they are dated reports rather than verification of the current build.
What Denuvo’s general documentation does—and doesn’t—tell you
Denuvo’s Anti-Cheat FAQ describes the product generally as starting when competitive multiplayer features are accessed, while non-competitive modes or single-player do not install it. That is vendor-level product context; it does not confirm that Zero Hour’s current version behaves that way.
The 2021 update also said the implementation included only Denuvo Anti-Cheat and that performance “should remain unaffected.” This was the developer’s claim, not an independently measured performance result.
