The profitable approach is not to decorate freely: reserve the budget for every mandatory requirement first, then add the cheapest materials that preserve the required quality, fit, colors, and style tags. Dorothy’s recurring preference is Eclectic; her later jobs add strict color percentages, fabric counts, tassels, trim, and material percentages.
Her five story commissions pay budgets of 350 to 750, with two optional pigeon commissions also paying 750. A completed commission gives one friendship point, while a failed one still gives 0.25. Gifts use a separate target: Eclectic 50, Glamour 50, at least 30% blue, and at least one brooch. Reaching whole friendship stars unlocks patterns through star four; star five gives a postcard rather than another pattern.

What Dorothy’s rewards actually are
Dorothy does not provide a separate physical-world prize that maps to an online store. Her rewards are entirely part of the game’s progression system:
- A commission budget: gold you spend while making the requested garment.
- Friendship: a perfect commission gives +1 friendship; a commission that misses a requirement gives +0.25.
- Pattern unlocks: whole friendship stars add named bodice, sleeve, and skirt patterns.
Each commission follows the same production loop: choose a design, buy fabric and decorations, cut, and sew while staying under the client’s budget. The budget is therefore not a cash payout to save for later. It is a spending limit for that job, so the best “reward” strategy is to turn it into a compliant garment without wasting gold on decoration that does not help a requirement.

Dorothy’s commissions, budgets, and requirements
The following list covers the five story commissions and the two optional pigeon commissions recorded for build 446 (the data page is labeled version 0.7.0). Story numbers refer to their position in the game’s 53-commission sequence.

Extraterrestrial Entreaty can appear after Floral Romance. Detective Dorothy can appear after Comfortable Coffin. The two optional jobs are not substitutes for the five main-story commissions; they are additional opportunities to earn friendship.
How to spend each commission budget
No complete item-price list is established for the materials, so there is no defensible universal claim that one named fabric or trim is always the cheapest. Instead, use a requirement-first buying order. Compare the prices shown in your own shop and choose the least expensive item that supplies the needed tag or percentage.

- Read every requirement before buying. Separate numerical tags such as Quality 80 from count requirements such as five tassels, and from percentage requirements such as 40% green.
- Buy mandatory counts and percentages first. A jewel, brooch, tassels, trim, a fourth fabric, or a required color share can consume the budget unexpectedly. Put those items in the garment before optional embellishment.
- Use low-cost materials for secondary tags. On 350- and 400-gold jobs, spend only enough on noncritical decorations to reach the listed style values. Extra glamour or patterning does not compensate for a missing required percentage.
- Leave quality and fit headroom. Aim above the threshold when the budget allows, because cutting and sewing still need to produce an acceptable result. Check the finished garment’s quality before submitting it.
- Stop when every line is satisfied. Unused gold is safer than a decorative purchase that pushes the garment over budget or displaces a required item.
This approach maximizes requirement coverage and cost efficiency while preserving the friendship result. It is more reliable than copying a single “cheapest recipe,” because shop prices and available materials can vary with your progression.
Pigeon Adoption: fund the jewel and brooch
The 400-gold allowance must cover Quality 75, Warm 50, and Eclectic 50, plus at least one jewel and one brooch. Treat both accessories as non-negotiable purchases. Build Warm and Eclectic with inexpensive fabric or decoration that carries those tags, then check that the accessory count remains intact. If a high-quality base fabric leaves too little for both accessories, replace the base with a cheaper option before removing either required item.
Hedge Camouflage: meet green and floral percentages early
This 350-gold commission asks for Quality 80, Daywear 40, Eclectic 25, Flowers 25, and at least 40% green. Establish the green share and the Flowers tag before adding stylistic extras. Because 40% is a garment-wide constraint, a small green accent may not be enough; inspect the displayed percentage after selecting the main fabric and decorations.

Precious Pigeon: count five tassels and four fabrics
At 350 gold, this is the tightest count-management job. You need Quality 80, Eclectic 60, Patterned 30, five tassels, and four distinct fabrics. Select four genuinely different fabric types first, then add the five tassels and verify the count in the requirement panel. Do not assume that multiple pieces of one fabric satisfy “four different fabrics.” Use inexpensive fabrics for the four-type requirement and reserve the remaining budget for quality and the required tags.
Dressed Down: balance four style thresholds
The second 350-gold commission requires Quality 80, Elegant 25, Eclectic 40, Cool 40, and Patterned 40. There is no accessory count to protect, so the main risk is overpaying for one tag while another remains below its threshold. Recheck all four style values after each major material change, especially if a fabric raises Elegant but lowers Cool or Eclectic.
Gala Supporter: use the larger budget for purple and trim
The 750-gold allowance is larger, but the constraints are correspondingly specific: Quality 80, Glamour 50, Eveningwear 40, Eclectic 50, at least 50% purple, and 20 cm of trim. Buy enough purple material to clear half the garment, then secure the full 20 cm of trim. Add Glamour, Eveningwear, and Eclectic through the remaining selections and retain quality headroom. The trim is a length requirement, not merely “one trim item,” so verify the displayed measurement.

Extraterrestrial Entreaty: distribute materials across seven categories
This optional 750-gold commission requires Quality 80 and at least 5% each of cotton, lace, linen, sequin, silk, velvet, and wool. It is easy to satisfy six categories and overlook the seventh. Treat the seven 5% minimums as a checklist and confirm each percentage before spending on additional decoration. Since the thresholds are low but numerous, inexpensive samples can be more efficient than large amounts of one premium material.
Detective Dorothy: reach 50% wool without losing the style tags
The other optional job requires Quality 80, Professional 50, Gothic 40, and at least 50% wool. Build the wool share first, then use the remaining selections to raise Professional and Gothic. A garment can look appropriate yet fail the numerical tags, so submit only after the requirement panel shows all three style values and the wool percentage.
Fit and quality: Dorothy’s measurements
Dorothy’s recorded measurements are 98.4 cm bust, 83.2 cm waist, and 110.8 cm hips. The game saves these measurements after her first visit. Use them when choosing and cutting the design: a garment that meets style tags but fits poorly can undermine an otherwise careful commission. Quality thresholds are 75 for Pigeon Adoption and 80 for the other listed commissions. For gifts, a dress with Quality above 80 before measurements can also earn a full friendship star, so quality headroom has value beyond a single commission’s pass/fail check.

Dorothy’s gift requirements and friendship gains
Gifting becomes available after the Art Appreciator story commission, whether that commission succeeds or fails. Dorothy’s gift card specifies four targets:
- Eclectic 50
- Glamour 50
- At least 30% blue
- At least one brooch
Meet all four conditions for +1 friendship. If the gift falls short, it gives +0.25 instead; gifts do not pay gold. Build the blue percentage and brooch into the garment rather than adding them as an afterthought, then verify Eclectic and Glamour in the requirement display. If you are intentionally farming friendship after a failed attempt, the quarter-point award is still useful, but a compliant gift is four times the friendship gain.
Do not confuse a successful gift with a pattern reward arriving immediately. Friendship accumulates toward whole stars, and the pattern unlock is tied to the star threshold.

The pattern rewards are cumulative: reaching star four gives the star-one, star-two, star-three, and star-four sets. Star five is a completion reward rather than another pattern tier.
A practical checklist before submitting Dorothy’s outfit
- Confirm the correct commission and its budget.
- Mark every hard count, percentage, color, or material requirement.
- Buy those requirement-critical items before optional decoration.
- Check quality against the commission’s threshold: 75 for Pigeon Adoption, 80 for the others.
- Check fit against Dorothy’s saved measurements: 98.4 / 83.2 / 110.8 cm.
- Verify every style tag in the requirement panel after sewing.
- Keep the total at or below the stated budget.
- For a gift, verify Eclectic 50, Glamour 50, 30% or more blue, and one brooch.
The most common failure is not a lack of gold; it is spending gold on attractive extras before satisfying a count or percentage. A requirement-first build prevents that mistake and gives Dorothy the full friendship result whenever the finished garment qualifies.
