Download Armoury Crate from ASUS’s official support page. The standard installer is the right starting point for most supported ROG and TUF PCs, ASUS motherboards, and compatible peripherals. ASUS lists support for Windows 10 version 1903 or later and Windows 11. ROG Ally owners should choose Armoury Crate SE instead.
There is no legitimate universal “one-click” installer: you download the package, extract it if needed, choose components, and let setup finish. Then update the app and check ASUS’s current security advisory. ASUS’s indexed package listing and its security guidance show different Armoury Crate version numbers, so the installer’s listed version alone is not proof that the final installed app is up to date.
Choose the right Armoury Crate download
Armoury Crate is ASUS control and management software for compatible ROG, TUF Gaming, ASUS, and ROG peripheral hardware. Depending on the model and installed services, it can provide performance modes, fan and power controls, device settings, driver and firmware updates, game-library features, and Aura Sync lighting. Features vary by device; an ASUS or ROG name by itself does not guarantee every control will be available. See the ASUS Armoury Crate FAQ for supported-device and setup guidance.

Install Armoury Crate from ASUS
- Open the official Armoury Crate support and download page.
- Select the Windows edition matching your PC: Windows 11 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit.
- Download Armoury Crate & Aura Creator Installer for a normal online installation. Choose the Full Installation Package only for the cases described above.
- If the download is a ZIP archive, right-click it and select Extract All. Open the extracted folder; do not run the installer from inside the compressed archive.
- Run the installer executable supplied in that ASUS download. ASUS documentation names
ArmouryCrateInstaller.exe; some packages may use a different filename, such asArmouryCrateInstallTool.exe. - Choose Armoury Crate, Aura Creator, or both, then select Start. Allow the installer to download and configure required components.
- Restart Windows if prompted, then launch Armoury Crate from the Start menu.
- Open its update area and install available application and service updates. Install relevant driver or firmware updates offered for your supported device, then restart if requested.
ASUS documents the extraction and installation process and lists Windows 10 version 1903 or later and Windows 11 as supported in its FAQ. Use an administrator account; ASUS’s ROG troubleshooting guidance says Armoury Crate must run from an administrator account rather than a standard account.
Update the app and verify its security status
Do not confuse the installer/bootstrap version with the Armoury Crate application version. ASUS’s indexed standard-installer entry shows an application component at v6.4.7, while its security advisory identifies versions before v6.4.12 as affected by listed vulnerabilities. The download listing and advisory therefore do not establish that the listed package alone leaves the running app at the current secure baseline.

- In Armoury Crate, open Settings or the update area, then select Update Center and Check for updates. Labels can vary by app version. ASUS documentation describes selecting Update all or installing items individually.
- Install the available application and service updates, restart if prompted, and reopen Armoury Crate.
- Check the application’s version in its Settings or About screen. Compare it with the minimum version in ASUS’s current security advisory. The ASUS advisory lists versions before v6.4.12 as affected by listed 2026 vulnerabilities; check the live page for any newer requirement before relying on that threshold.
ASUS’s advisory includes entries associated with CVE-2026-8070 and CVE-2026-8918. This does not mean every installation is compromised or that every model is affected in the same way. It does mean that installing from ASUS should be followed by updating and checking the current advisory rather than assuming a package label is the final version.
Check the downloaded file’s hash
For a security-sensitive or managed installation, compare the file’s SHA-256 hash with the value shown beside that exact package on ASUS’s live download page. The indexed standard installer listing gives A0C3181B135C0439F12338D6D6B77181B54A62BC44C1FE95C57945F1735D54E1; the indexed Full Installation Package listing gives FCF9D0ECF3350837F68F1223F452CB0E1CD7B8F28753AC6ECC4376C792ACBD87. Those hashes apply only to the specific files represented in that listing and may change if ASUS replaces a package.

Get-FileHash .ArmouryCrateInstallTool.zip -Algorithm SHA256Run the command in PowerShell from the folder containing the downloaded ZIP, then compare its result with the matching hash on ASUS’s page. A matching hash confirms the file matches ASUS’s listed value; it does not replace checking the source and security advisory.
Clean-reinstall a broken installation
- Download the Armoury Crate Uninstall Tool from ASUS before removing the existing installation.
- Save your work and close Armoury Crate, Aura Creator, games, and other ASUS utilities.
- Run the ASUS Uninstall Tool as administrator and complete its removal steps.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the standard installer again from ASUS and install it as described above.
- Restart if prompted, update Armoury Crate, then check that the relevant device, lighting, performance mode, or fan controls are available.
ASUS recommends its Uninstall Tool for complete removal before reinstalling. Avoid manually deleting ASUS folders, changing the registry, or using cleanup scripts as ordinary troubleshooting; ASUS’s ROG guidance warns against those approaches.

Troubleshoot installation and device problems
The installer will not start
- Confirm the download came directly from
asus.com. - Extract the ZIP fully before running the installer.
- Run the supplied executable as administrator and close other ASUS installers or system-tuning tools.
- Restart Windows. If an older installation is present, use ASUS’s Uninstall Tool and then retry.
Setup is stuck or says Windows is busy
- If the installer is clearly unresponsive, cancel it and restart Windows.
- Run the ASUS Uninstall Tool, then restart again.
- Retry the standard installer as administrator.
- If online setup fails repeatedly or the network is restricted, try the Full Installation Package. It is much larger and its listed components may be older, so update the installed app afterward.
- If ASUS support requests diagnostic information, the download page lists the Armoury Crate Lite Log Tool; its indexed listing shows version 2.0.2.0, dated May 22, 2026.
Armoury Crate installs but does not detect a device
Detection depends on model support, ASUS services, drivers, firmware, and how a peripheral is connected. Restart the PC and power-cycle external devices; then check the exact model’s ASUS support page for BIOS, chipset, device firmware, and ASUS drivers. If detection remains broken, use the Uninstall Tool and reinstall. A generic Windows PC may install some components without exposing the model-specific controls available on a supported ASUS system.
RGB or Aura Sync lighting is missing
- Confirm the exact device is Aura Sync-compatible; installing Armoury Crate does not make every RGB device compatible.
- Update Armoury Crate and the device firmware, then restart the computer and power-cycle external lighting hardware.
- Check whether Windows Dynamic Lighting or another RGB utility is competing for control.
- If ordinary updates and restarts do not help, try the clean reinstall procedure.
A ROG Ally does not show expected controls
ROG Ally systems use Armoury Crate SE. Select the SE package and the support page for the exact handheld rather than substituting the standard desktop or laptop package.

Compatibility, motherboard prompts, and alternatives
Armoury Crate is a Windows utility, not a macOS application. A supported Windows version is not enough by itself: the computer or peripheral must also be compatible, and particular controls may require model-specific drivers, firmware, and ASUS services. Some ROG or TUF laptops ship with Armoury Crate installed. Certain ASUS motherboards may offer to download and install it during first boot; accepting that prompt is optional, and the utility can also be installed manually from the motherboard’s support page. The prompt and any BIOS setting to disable it vary by motherboard generation, so consult that model’s manual rather than assuming a universal menu path.
Owners sometimes consider third-party options such as G-Helper for ROG laptops, or Windows Dynamic Lighting for supported RGB devices. These are not ASUS products or universal replacements: feature coverage depends on the model, and Windows Dynamic Lighting does not replace ASUS-specific performance, fan, firmware, or service functions. Peripheral suites such as Corsair iCUE, Logitech G Hub, or Razer Synapse may suit their own devices, but multiple hardware-control or lighting utilities can conflict. Keep Armoury Crate if you rely on its model-specific controls, device management, or ASUS updates.
Is a “one-click” download safe?
A page advertising a one-click Armoury Crate download is not an official source merely because it uses ASUS’s name. Use the ASUS domain and the package for your operating system and device. Avoid repacked installers, torrents, “portable” builds, random DLL downloads, and third-party mirrors. The official flow takes several steps, but it avoids trusting an unverified installer.
