Its three-on-three games can be fun, but reviewers also report tiring arm movements and a relatively thin wider experience. It is a harder sell if you want a relaxed sports game with lots of variety.
What is Drag x Drive?
Drag x Drive is a Nintendo Switch 2 basketball game released on August 14, 2025, according to TechRadar. Teams of three compete using wheelchair-like vehicles, with the detached Joy-Con 2 controllers used in mouse mode. The central appeal is not just basketball: it is learning to move, steer and shoot through physical gestures with the controllers.
How do the controls and matches work?
In its review, The Washington Post describes players moving by pumping both arms, steering with one arm and shooting with an arm-lifting gesture. The review also notes passing, boosts, ramps and dunks. These movements make the control scheme the game’s defining feature, rather than a conventional stick-and-button approach.
Matches are three-on-three, and the game supports local and online multiplayer for up to six players, according to Game8. Game8 also describes mini-games and challenges, while The Washington Post mentions short lobby diversions such as obstacle races and catch. TechRadar characterizes the experience as oriented toward online play and quick matches.

What reviewers liked—and what they questioned
The controls make it distinctive
The Washington Post and TechRadar both praise the originality of the mouse-style controls, and TechRadar describes them as responsive. For players curious about using the Joy-Con 2 sensors this way, the idea gives Drag x Drive a clear reason to exist beyond being another basketball game.
Physical effort can undercut the fun
The same arm movements that make the game unusual can become tiring over longer sessions. The Washington Post also points to the small controllers’ ergonomics, and TechRadar warns that repeated movement wears on the arms. Gene Park, reviewing for The Washington Post, puts the concern plainly: “If you play video games to kick back and relax, you can safely skip ‘Drag x Drive.’”

Enjoyable matches may not mean a deep package
TechRadar finds the three-on-three matches entertaining in short bursts but criticizes the visuals and limited longevity. Game8 likewise enjoys the match mechanics while describing the rest of the experience as sparse. Those are reviewer assessments, not objective measures, but they point to the same buying risk: the central idea may be more compelling than the amount of variety around it.
Who should buy Drag x Drive?
- Consider it if you are intrigued by mouse-mode Joy-Con 2 controls and want short, competitive basketball sessions.
- Think carefully if you expect to play for long stretches; reviewers say the repeated arm motions can tire you.
- Look elsewhere if you want a relaxed sports game or broad, lasting content. Reviewers’ concerns focus on comfort, presentation and variety.
Verdict
Drag x Drive is an inventive experiment with a real gameplay hook, and its matches can be entertaining. But the physical demands and reviewers’ reservations about longevity make it a niche recommendation rather than an easy pick for every Switch 2 owner. Buy it for the control novelty and short-session competition—not on the assumption that it is a deep, laid-back basketball package.
