Dragon Age Keep was publicly accessible on October 8, 2026, but that snapshot does not guarantee it will remain online. Fans are developing Keep-Archives, a local preservation project intended to keep Dragon Age choices available if the official service disappears. Its creator described it as unfinished, so it is not yet a verified, ready-to-use replacement.
What Dragon Age Keep does—and why Inquisition needs it
Dragon Age Keep is an EA companion website for shaping a world history from choices in earlier Dragon Age games, then importing that history into a new Dragon Age: Inquisition playthrough. EA’s official Inquisition manual is explicit: “Dragon Age: Inquisition does not use a save file import system that reads saves from previous games.” Players must create and import a world state through Keep, or use the game’s default world history.

Is Dragon Age Keep still working?
EA’s official Keep landing page was publicly accessible on October 8, 2026, and offered a sign-in option. That confirms the page was live when checked; it does not establish that every feature is working for every player or promise continued availability.
EA explains in its general service-retirement policy that declining use and the work required to maintain older online services can make continued support impractical. EA says usage for older services may typically fall below 1% of peak online players across all EA titles, but that is a company-wide policy explanation—not a Keep-specific user count or a shutdown threshold announced for Keep. The policy also says a game may sometimes remain playable offline after its online services are no longer available or supported.

No reviewed source establishes that EA has announced a closure of Dragon Age Keep. A historical EA community-manager reply said the Keep was running at that time, but it is not current confirmation. EA’s 2017 closure of the separate Dragon Age Tavern is another service’s history, not evidence of a Keep shutdown or migration plan.
What is Keep-Archives?
Keep-Archives is a fan project intended to preserve Keep functionality locally. Its creator, Daimon_Guardian, described a planned offline app combining Dragon Age Keep and Mass Effect Archives, with the content hardcoded. In a self-reported update, the author wrote: “Still in dev. Once it’ll be finished and working, will be published on git freely. 1 offline app (everything is hardcoded) with both Dragon Age Keep and Mass Effect Archives together.”

The creator also identified local save-import work as one of the difficult tasks. That matters because an archive of choices is not automatically a working path to load a custom history into Inquisition. The project’s finished features, platform support, security review, release status, and reliable import compatibility have not been established by the available project discussion. Treat it as a work in progress, not an official EA product or a proven replacement.

| Official Dragon Age Keep | Landing page was live on October 8, 2026; EA’s manual documents its world-state workflow. | Depends on EA’s online service. | EA documents creating choices in Keep and importing them into Inquisition. |
| Keep-Archives | Creator described it as in development; no completed release or tested compatibility is established in the project discussion. | Creator describes a local/offline design aim; finished operation is unverified. | Local save-import work was described as a difficult task; reliable compatibility is not established. |
| Inquisition default world history | Available in the game according to EA’s manual. | The manual does not state a Keep dependency for using the default history. | Provides the default rather than a custom Keep-created history. |
What players can do now
- For a new playthrough with a custom history: use the official Keep workflow while it is available, then follow Inquisition’s import process described in EA’s manual. The sources do not establish a guarantee of future access.
- If the Keep is unavailable: Inquisition’s default world history is the documented fallback. The available sources do not establish another fully supported way to import a custom history without Keep.
- If you are considering Keep-Archives: check the project author’s status update and project discussion for what has actually been released and tested. Do not assume an announcement or local mock-up means import compatibility is finished.
Fan preservation is broader than the Keep
Fans have pursued other Dragon Age preservation and continuation projects, but those efforts should not be confused with Keep-Archives. GamesRadar reported in March 2026 that seven fans had formed a team to create a fan-made third volume of The World of Thedas. The same feature described tabletop play and a fan’s plans as a game master. These examples show community activity around the series; they do not show that Keep-Archives has shipped or that EA plans to close the Keep.
