Complete Hauntings: Feeling Scared? before Hauntings: Deadly Playtime: speak with Myrna in the Necropolis to start the first quest, defeat the Scarecrow in Hossberg Wetlands, then report back to unlock the second. Defeat Death on a Dock Town rooftop and return to Myrna to finish the chain. This walkthrough covers both routes, boss tactics, and rewards.
How to unlock the Hauntings quests
After the main quest Blood of Arlathan, return to the Lighthouse, travel to the Necropolis, and speak with Myrna to begin Hauntings: Feeling Scared?. Completing it and reporting back to Myrna opens Hauntings: Deadly Playtime.
Hauntings: Feeling Scared? — find and defeat the Scarecrow
Find the Scarecrow in Hossberg Wetlands
Travel to the ruins in Hossberg Wetlands near the Old Crossroads area, south of the Flooded Farmlands beacon and north of the Old Crossroads beacon. Another route description places the search near a fenced area by the northeast wall. If that landmark does not match your route, use the in-game map and quest marker to locate the encounter.
Scarecrow weaknesses and fight strategy
The Scarecrow is listed as weak to Fire and resistant to Cold. Its barrier makes ranged attacks useful early in the fight; once its health is exposed, use Fire abilities and detonations. Keep your focus on the boss when it summons spirits, which can otherwise pull attention away from dealing damage.

Death weaknesses and fight strategy
Death is listed as weak to Cold and resistant to Fire. It has barriers and armor, and can regenerate health, so sustain pressure while avoiding its attacks. Parrying projectiles when possible can damage its barrier; melee pressure can help when the boss moves frequently. Lucanis and Neve are suggested options, not required companions.
- Read the icebolt volley: Death fires successive icebolts; the delayed final shot splits into three, so watch its timing and avoid the spread.
- Move out of area bursts: When Death teleports and a ground reticle appears, leave the marked area. At low health, it adds follow-up area attacks.
- Balance offense with defense: Its defensive layers and regeneration reward steady damage, but taking avoidable hits can undo progress.
Death rewards and final turn-in
Defeating Death grants 350 XP according to Game8 (2024), plus a gear chest. Gamer Guides observed a Watcher’s Hold belt in its run; chest gear is not a guaranteed named reward. Return to Myrna to complete the quest and receive Deathrattle, 500 gold, and +250 Mourn Watch Strength. Game8 also lists increased bond with current companions.
