The game was among the releases EA credited with helping lift its full-game net bookings in fiscal 2025, but EA also said it engaged about 1.5 million players during one quarter—nearly 50% below the company’s expectations. That player figure is not a copy-sales total, and EA has not disclosed a title-specific lifetime sales number in the official filings and statements cited here.
How many copies of Dragon Age: The Veilguard sold?
EA has not published a title-specific cumulative unit-sales total in the disclosures cited here. Nor do those materials give a title-specific net bookings figure or enough information to calculate lifetime sales. So the precise answer to “How many copies did it sell?” is that the official public sources cited here do not say.
That distinction matters because the available figures measure different things: EA-wide bookings, player engagement, and year-over-year comparisons. None can be substituted for copies sold.
What EA reported about the game’s performance
FY25 bookings rose slightly across EA’s full-game portfolio
For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025, EA reported $2.017 billion in full-game net bookings, an increase of $12 million—less than 1%—compared with FY24. EA attributed the increase primarily to growth in its American football franchises, driven by College Football 25, and releases including Split Fiction and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Other games and weaker full-game sales of EA SPORTS FC 25 partially offset that growth. This is a publisher-wide total: EA did not disclose how much The Veilguard contributed. EA FY25 Form 10-K.

EA said engagement fell short of its expectations
In its January 22, 2025 preliminary Q3 FY25 results announcement, EA said the game engaged approximately 1.5 million players during the quarter, down nearly 50% from the company’s expectations. EA described this as player engagement—not copies sold. It should not be reported as “1.5 million copies.” EA’s preliminary Q3 FY25 results announcement.
A later filing called the game a prior-year comparison
In its filing for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, EA said that full-game net bookings and revenue comparisons were partially offset by the prior-year release of The Veilguard. This describes how a prior-year release affected comparisons with a later period; it is not a cumulative sales figure, a direct measure of profitability, or a disclosure of the game’s lifetime performance. Do the figures mean the game was a commercial success?
They support a mixed, limited conclusion. The Veilguard was one of the releases EA named as contributing to a small increase in the company’s FY25 full-game net bookings. At the same time, EA’s reported engagement for the game was nearly 50% below its own expectations. The two statements cover different periods and metrics, and neither supplies a title-specific sales total.
The cited disclosures do not establish a public sales target, break-even threshold, or title-specific profitability figure. Without those benchmarks and a game-level sales or bookings number, the public evidence cannot settle whether the game was commercially successful overall—or whether its sales were strong in absolute terms.

What the sales evidence does—and does not—measure
| Disclosure | What it measures | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| FY25 full-game net bookings: $2.017 billion, up $12 million year over year | EA’s full-game portfolio for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025 | The Veilguard’s individual contribution or copies sold |
| Approximately 1.5 million players, nearly 50% below EA’s expectations | Engagement during the quarter described in EA’s January 2025 preliminary results announcement | Copies sold, cumulative players, or lifetime sales |
| Prior-year release partially offset later-period comparisons | The effect of the game’s release in the comparison period on EA’s later full-game net bookings and revenue comparisons | Cumulative sales, profitability, or a direct title-level sales result |
Net bookings, net revenue, players engaged, and units sold are not interchangeable metrics. EA’s FY25 filing defines full-game net revenue as including downloads and packaged goods, with packaged goods sold through mass-market retailers, specialty stores, and distribution arrangements; that accounting context still does not reveal this title’s sales.
