To complete Spirits of the Dalish in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, find five Dalish clan mementos in Arlathan Forest, return to the distressed spirit at Ruins Reach, open the hidden space behind the owl statue, repair the Fade device, and complete the rite at the altar. The listed rewards are 500 XP, +100 Veil Jumpers Strength, and increased bond with your current companions.
Where to start Spirits of the Dalish
This side quest takes place in Arlathan Forest and begins with a distressed spirit associated with a boat in Ruins Reach. Return to Arlathan Forest and look for the spirit in Ruins Reach. Guides describe the progression timing differently: PC Gamer places it after returning to the forest, while Gamer Guides locates the conversation during the main quest Signs and Portents. If the spirit is not there, continue the main story and check Ruins Reach again.
How to find all five Dalish mementos
Use the quest search areas and map markers to locate each memento. Guide numbering and route descriptions vary, so follow the landmarks rather than relying on a single numbered order.
- Crushed Dalish: Search beneath falling rocks near the river or shore for a body and its memento.
- Broken eluvian: Look in the Shadowy Grove area for bodies and a memento beside a broken eluvian.
- Raised landmark: Check the raised area near wooden elf statues. One guide’s route description associates this stop with a cave or nearby rocks, so use the active quest marker to confirm the search area.
- Rift and cave: Find the glowing rift. It explodes and opens a cave containing a memento.
- Wrecked boat: Search a burnt or wrecked boat for the remaining body and memento.
Some guides also mention notes or a journal at locations. The required objective is to collect five clan mementos; keep checking each marked search area until the quest registers the item.

How to perform the rite
- After collecting all five mementos, return to the distressed spirit on the boat at Ruins Reach.
- Go behind the owl statue and move the rock to reveal a hidden space. Harding can move it; if she is not available, use the Lyrium Dagger.
- Inside, repair the broken Fade device with Bellara. If Bellara is not present, use the Lyrium Dagger instead.
- Climb onto the rock and jump through the portal to reach the ritual area.
- Interact with the altar to finish the rite and complete the quest.
