Encore has seven reported hidden chests across its Overture, Concerto, and Coda variants. The first three are in Overture; later chests require the relevant Echoes story progression and mission variant. For the initial hunt, complete Encore once and progress Specimen ID: NES007. Then use the landmarks and puzzle steps below to find each chest.
Before hunting Encore’s hidden chests
Guides identify seven chests in total: three in Overture, two in Concerto, and two in Coda. The special puzzles are tied to mission and quest progression. Complete Encore once and progress the weekly story and Specimen ID: NES007; Shacknews reports that NES007 causes special puzzles to appear and opens access to the hub area. Later chests also depend on subsequent story steps and the active mission variant. Shacknews’ catalyst guide and The Game Post’s chest guide describe these gates.

Overture: chests 1–3
Chest 1: Portal-room cube puzzle
- In the purple-lit hallway with two large flowers on the left, take the left branch before the first major Vex-node encounter.
- In the circular room with Vex portals, scan the conflux.
- Shoot the Vex cube marked by a smaller cube beneath it. Repeat the marked-target sequence through both waves; the chest appears when the puzzle is complete.

Chest 2: Timed five-plate puzzle
- At the room with the first planetary piston, scan the conflux near the piston instead of continuing up the gravity lift.
- Take the portal on the right to return to the hub.
- Scan the second conflux to begin the puzzle. Follow its faint light beams to locate the Vex plates.
- Destroy all five plates before the timer expires to unlock the chest.
The Game Post calls the reward Weapon Frame II; Shacknews calls it Command Frame II. The naming differs between the guides, so check the reward label shown in your game rather than assuming the two names are interchangeable. The Game Post and Shacknews cover this puzzle and reward.

Chest 3: Research-lab node route
- After the specimen and dialogue room, find the research lab and scan the new conflux.
- Use the portal it opens to return to the hub.
- Follow the portal-and-buff route to reach the purple Vex nodes, then destroy them to spawn the chest.
The route’s exact portal and buff sequence varies in the guide descriptions. Follow the in-game indicators and identify the purple nodes as your target rather than relying on an unverified fixed sequence. The Game Post’s guide details the route.
Later chests: Concerto and Coda
The remaining four chests are spread across Concerto and Coda, but the guides describe them in the context of the 2024 release sequence. Confirm which Encore variant is active before following these instructions; the available guide details do not establish a current, complete route for all four later chests.
Concerto: progress the Act 2 story
The Game Post places chest 4 after progressing the Echoes Act 2 week 2 story until Encore: Concerto becomes available. Its route uses a hub-and-portal puzzle followed by a marked-cube boss encounter; the chest rewards Choir of One’s second intrinsic, according to that guide. Read The Game Post’s account for the historical route context.
Later variant: specimen and colored-buff puzzle
The same guide describes chest 5 as a puzzle before the final boss involving Vex specimens and colored buffs. Collecting the final specimen spawns the chest and the Destabilizing Rounds Refit catalyst. GameSpot describes a later hidden-chest route with portal destinations, an Access module, a marked white cube, and repeated boss-damage phases. These are guide-specific route details, not a confirmed current all-seven walkthrough; check the active mission and quest objectives in-game. For catalyst acquisition, Shacknews says to pick up the relevant quest from Banshee-44, open its corresponding secret chest, and complete Encore on Expert. The chest is part of the quest route, not a substitute for the Expert clear. Consult Shacknews’ catalyst instructions for its chest-by-chest quest context.

Bungie’s Episode: Echoes page lists the episode as ending October 8 at the weekly reset. That statement gives the episode end timing; it does not establish whether Encore remains launchable afterward. Check the current in-game Director and quest listings for availability rather than assuming the episode page answers that question.
