Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is a 4v4 team battle, and the way to win is to claim the Dragon Ball deep in enemy territory—not simply to rack up knockouts. Learn the route through enemy strongholds, choose a role that helps your team, and treat fights as steps toward the objective.
1. Learn what actually wins the match
Bandai Namco’s official game site describes the game as a 4v4 battle, while its How to Play guide identifies claiming the Dragon Ball in enemy territory as the victory condition. Defeating enemies can help you grow stronger, but a knockout is not the final objective. Keep the Dragon Ball in mind when deciding whether a fight is worth taking.
2. Treat strongholds as the route to the Dragon Ball
The official release announcement, dated September 10, 2025, describes the objective in sequence: capture the enemy strongholds guarded by the four Gods of Destruction, then seize the Dragon Ball in opposing territory. Use that sequence as your mental map for a match. Progress toward the strongholds and final objective matters more than getting drawn into a fight that does not help your team advance.
3. Choose a role for the job you want to do
The official beginner guide groups roles by what they contribute to a team. Pick the kind of responsibility you enjoy, then use it to help allies rather than treating the match as a solo contest.

| Role | Officially described job | A useful starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Tank | Self-healing, absorbing enemy attacks, and protecting allies | Choose it if you want to take pressure and help keep teammates safe. |
| Damage | Aggression and damage, with powerful techniques to break through enemy lines | Choose it if attacking opponents is the part of the role you enjoy most. |
| Technical | Supporting and healing allies, and obstructing enemies | Choose it if you like helping teammates and disrupting the opposition. |
These are role descriptions, not a ranking of which role is strongest or easiest. The official guide does not identify a beginner-friendly hero, a current best build, or a hero difficulty ranking, so start with the role’s stated job rather than an unsupported “best character” claim.
4. Make your role useful to the whole team
Each role is defined partly by its effect on allies and opponents: Tanks protect, Damage heroes pressure enemy lines, and Technical heroes support allies or obstruct foes. When choosing what to do during a fight, ask how your role can help the team move forward. A role is most useful when it contributes to the shared objective, not when it pulls you away from it.
5. Fight to earn EXP, then use what leveling gives you
Bandai Namco’s release announcement says that defeating enemies earns EXP. Leveling up during a battle unlocks skills and increases attack range and power. The publisher summed up the progression system this way: “Defeat enemies to earn EXP and level up mid-battle!” Treat encounters as a way to build your capabilities, while still judging them against the team’s progress toward the Dragon Ball.
6. Advance with allies instead of taking the objective alone
Bandai Namco describes the game as one where players work with allies to strategize, corner opponents, and take the objective. Coordinate your advance with teammates: a Tank can absorb pressure and protect others, Damage can attack enemy lines, and Technical can help allies or interfere with opponents. The point is not to follow a rigid formation, but to make your role part of a shared push.

7. Keep intermediate fights connected to the destination
The Dragon Ball in enemy territory is the stated final goal, and the strongholds are part of the route to it. Before committing to a skirmish, consider whether it helps your group deal with defenders, capture a stronghold, or move toward the Dragon Ball. This keeps the match’s objective—not the number of opponents you can chase—at the center of your decisions.
8. Don’t assume a role description tells you which hero is easiest
The official beginner material explains Tank, Damage, and Technical roles, but it does not establish which individual heroes are easiest to learn, strongest, or best for a particular build. Use the role descriptions to narrow down what kind of play you want, then choose a hero based on the information available in the game. Avoid treating an unverified tier list or build as official beginner advice.
9. Pick a supported platform that fits your setup
The official site lists the App Store, Google Play, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, and says the game supports cross-platform play and progression. It is free to play and includes optional paid items and loot boxes; a paid purchase is not stated as a requirement to begin. Platform requirements and performance can differ by device and may change, so check the platform listing for your specific setup.
10. Link your Bandai Namco ID before switching platforms
The official game site says linking a Bandai Namco ID in-game enables save-data carryover to another platform. Dragon Gems—including gems bought with real currency—remain usable only on the platform where they were acquired, although content purchased with Dragon Gems can be used across platforms. If you expect to play on more than one platform, link the ID before moving so you understand what carries over and what does not.
