Players reported lost progress and save-data resets in DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO shortly after its October 2024 release, including on PS5 and Steam/PC. Those posts do not establish how many players were affected, what caused the losses, or whether a widespread problem is happening now. Bandai Namco’s September 2026 update says it improved overall stability, but does not say it fixed save resets. If your save is missing, first check for a platform backup that predates the reset and avoid overwriting it.
What players reported
Reddit posts dated October 8 and October 12, 2024 described progress being reset; one player said the game restarted at the tutorial after their progress was lost. An October 24 post was titled “Corrupted Save Data bug still present on Steam.” These are individual accounts, not a measured incident count or confirmation that the reports shared a cause. A creator also described the issue as random in an October 15, 2024 video titled “Sparking Zero is DELETING Save Data.” That is contemporaneous commentary, not official confirmation or evidence of how often resets occurred. Watch the video.
Does the latest update fix save resets?
Bandai Namco’s notice, published September 3, 2026, says update version 3022.021.003.012.015 would begin rolling out September 4 at 08:00 UTC for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Its listed changes include a CPU behavior adjustment, an Episode Battle trophy-display fix, and “Improved overall game stability.” It does not mention save-data resets or restoration, so the stability note is not confirmation that a save-loss issue was fixed. Read Bandai Namco’s update notice. The publisher’s news index likewise does not establish that reports have been resolved.

What to do if your progress is gone
There is no verified universal recovery procedure or published recovery success rate. Start by checking whether your platform has a cloud or local backup from before the reset. Until you know whether such a copy exists, avoid making changes that could overwrite it.
Steam on PC
- Check the available Steam Cloud state for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO and determine whether a copy predates the loss. Steam lists Steam Cloud as a feature for the game, but that does not guarantee your save was uploaded, remains intact, or can be restored. View the Steam listing.
- If the save is still missing, use Steam Support’s technical-issue page for the game. SteamDB lists cloud-save metadata for the title, but that listing cannot confirm that an individual player has a usable backup. View the SteamDB cloud-save metadata.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Check the console’s own save and backup controls, then follow the platform’s official support guidance. The available information does not establish exact menu steps, subscription requirements, or restoration behavior for either console.

Avoid unverified file changes
Do not delete save files, disable synchronization, or copy one save over another based on an unverified fix. No platform-specific procedure for those actions has been established here; a mistaken overwrite may remove a copy that could otherwise be recoverable.

No root cause, affected-player rate, or recovery rate is established by the available reports and official notices. Players discussed crashes, shutdowns, and synchronization as possible scenarios, but those suggestions do not show that any of them triggered the resets. The player posts cited here date from October 2024, while the latest official update notice reviewed is from September 2026. That record supports saying players reported losses in 2024 and that a later update improved overall stability; it does not establish a continuing widespread problem or confirm a save-reset fix.
