Super Limit-Breaking NEO, the third major DLC for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, launched on July 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The expansion adds 33 playable characters, new battles and stages, and the solo training mode Limit Breaker Journey. The phrase “launches next week” is no longer current.
What’s included in Super Limit-Breaking NEO?
Bandai Namco’s July 30 launch announcement lists these additions in the paid expansion:

Named characters include Mercenary Tao, Grandpa Gohan, General Blue, Ma Junior, Chi-Chi, Demon King Piccolo, Goku (World Tournament), Mighty Mask, Supreme Kai, Kid Uub, Zangya, Super Saiyan Bardock, Chilled, Super 17, GT Vegeta, GT Trunks, Nuova Shenron, Hell Fighter 17, Champa, Jaco and Cheelai. The announced stages are Kami’s Palace, Kame House, Bitter Tundra and Stratosphere, which includes Earth and Planet Vegeta. Bandai Namco America’s launch notice confirms the content counts; PlayStation Blog’s July 23 feature names the four stages.
How Limit Breaker Journey works
Limit Breaker Journey is a repeatable solo progression mode, not simply another story campaign. Choose a character, take on battles and events, and build that fighter through progression choices that can shape stats and abilities to suit a preferred playstyle. The mode also includes a stamina system that affects movement and starting health. Opponent strength is represented by SP; as SP increases, players can allocate points across six parameters.

The official DRAGON BALL site’s July 2026 overview says characters trained in the mode can be used in offline battles and select online battles. Producer Jun Furutani described the progression trade-off in a July 23 feature: “So, you can choose whether to push through tougher fights for greater growth, or aim for safer victories and steady progression — we encourage you to experiment and find the approach that suits you best.” Bandai Namco Europe’s feature also explains the mode’s mechanics.
What the free update adds
Not every feature arriving alongside NEO requires buying the expansion. The accompanying free update adds two battle mechanics and three variations of existing stages; these are separate from the DLC’s four new stages.

- Sparking! Boost: Spend more Skill Stock while in Sparking! mode to raise attack power. When the effect ends, stats are temporarily reduced.
- Chain Blast: After launching an opponent, switch in a reserve ally to continue the attack with a Blast. The skill used is fixed for each character.

Platforms and Switch timing
At launch, the expansion was available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Switch and Switch 2 were not part of that initial platform list. Bandai Namco Europe’s July 30 notice says versions for both Nintendo systems are planned for 2027; Bandai Namco America’s launch announcement describes them only as coming at a later date. The 2027 schedule is therefore the timing stated by the Europe page, not a date confirmed in the America announcement. Do you need the base game?
Yes. Super Limit-Breaking NEO is downloadable content for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, not a standalone game. Owning the base game is separate from owning the expansion; a base-game copy does not include NEO. The publisher’s launch materials describe the expansion as DLC and do not establish a physical edition of it.
