Dragon Ball Super 2: What’s Confirmed About the Next Sagas, Ranked

There is no officially announced anime called Dragon Ball Super 2, and no official source confirms five new sagas for animation. The confirmed continuation is Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, announced for production on January 25, 2026. It adapts the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner storyline, in which Goku and Vegeta join the Galactic Patrol against the planet-eating Moro. The manga then moves through Granolah the Survivor and Super Hero, but neither later arc has been announced as an anime adaptation.

That leaves three documented manga arcs to rank—not five confirmed anime sagas. The ranking below is editorial, based on narrative payoff, character development, villain and conflict design, and major combat developments.

What “Dragon Ball Super 2” actually refers to

“Dragon Ball Super 2” is a fan and search-friendly label for a possible continuation of the Dragon Ball Super television anime. It is not the title used in the official announcement. The announced project is Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, described as a new anime continuation set after the Universe Survival arc.

The January 25, 2026 announcement confirms production, but it does not give a premiere date, episode count, broadcaster, streaming service, trailer schedule, or release window. It also does not promise a five-saga plan. The safest description is therefore “the next announced Dragon Ball Super anime,” rather than “season two” or “five new sagas.”

The selected story is identifiable: Goku and Vegeta work with the Galactic Patrol to stop Moro, known as the Planet-Eater, after his escape from the Galactic Prison. That is the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc.

Why the promised five-saga list cannot be verified

The phrase “All 5 New Sagas, Ranked” comes from a secondary article listing whose surfaced excerpt does not show all five entries. Because the complete list is unavailable, it is not possible to identify the intended five without guessing. It would also be misleading to treat five possible manga storylines as five confirmed anime seasons.

Official franchise material documents a sequence of three post-Universe Survival manga arcs:

  • Galactic Patrol Prisoner: Moro escapes custody and consumes the energy of worlds while Goku and Vegeta assist the Galactic Patrol.
  • Granolah the Survivor: the last surviving Cerealian seeks revenge, while the Heeters manipulate the conflict between him and the Saiyans.
  • Super Hero: Goten and Trunks protect their city in a story set before the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film.

That sequence establishes manga source material, not an animation order. Only Galactic Patrol Prisoner is tied to the newly announced anime. Granolah and Super Hero remain documented possibilities until an official adaptation announcement says otherwise.

The three documented arcs, ranked

Rank Arc What the official material establishes Anime status
1 Galactic Patrol Prisoner Moro escapes the Galactic Prison, threatens multiple worlds, and forces Goku and Vegeta to cooperate with the Galactic Patrol. Selected for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.
2 Granolah the Survivor Granolah pursues vengeance against the Saiyans while the Heeters engineer the confrontation; the arc includes Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego and Black Frieza. No anime adaptation announced.
3 Super Hero Goten and Trunks defend their city in a story positioned as a prequel to the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie. No anime adaptation announced.

This is a critical ranking, not an official ordering. The franchise’s announcements establish premises and chronology, but they do not grade the arcs or declare one superior to another.

1. Galactic Patrol Prisoner — the strongest continuation for television

Galactic Patrol Prisoner ranks first because it offers the clearest direct continuation of the existing television anime. The Universe Survival arc ends with the multiverse tournament and the restoration of erased universes. Galactic Patrol Prisoner follows that point and immediately introduces a threat that cannot be solved by simply defeating one tournament opponent.

Moro’s defining ability is consumption. He drains planetary energy, making the danger physical, regional and easy to understand: worlds are being emptied rather than merely conquered. His escape from the Galactic Prison also gives the story a pursuit structure. The Galactic Patrol is not a background organization; it becomes the framework through which Goku and Vegeta investigate the threat, recruit help and confront an enemy operating across planets.

The arc also creates a useful division of responsibilities between the two Saiyans. Goku’s Ultra Instinct remains central to his development, while Vegeta receives a separate path and a reason to train beyond simply matching Goku’s latest transformation. That contrast gives the story more dramatic shape than another contest over who can reach the next power level first.

For an anime adaptation, the arc has several built-in advantages:

  • A clear opening status quo: the story begins after Universe Survival rather than requiring a new timeline explanation.
  • A distinctive antagonist: Moro’s life-draining power changes how battles and locations function.
  • New supporting roles: the Galactic Patrol and its allies can carry investigation and strategy scenes between major fights.
  • Escalation with a reason: Goku and Vegeta must adapt because ordinary strength does not answer Moro’s energy manipulation.

Its main adaptation challenge is scale. The arc moves between planets and introduces a large cast, so an anime would need consistent pacing to avoid compressing the Patrol’s story into a sequence of disconnected battles. Even with that caveat, it is the only arc directly confirmed as the next anime story and therefore the natural number-one entry.

2. Granolah the Survivor — the richest conflict, but a later possibility

Granolah the Survivor ranks second because its central conflict is personal rather than purely cosmic. Granolah is the surviving member of the Cerealian people and seeks revenge tied to the Saiyans’ past. The Heeters exploit that resentment, manipulating events so that Granolah and Goku and Vegeta collide while they pursue their own interests.

The arc’s strongest feature is its layered motivation. Granolah is not introduced as a villain who wants universal domination; his anger comes from a specific historical grievance. Goku and Vegeta are not simply defending Earth from an invader; they are forced to confront the consequences of Saiyan history and the limits of their own knowledge about it. The Heeters add a third force, turning the conflict into a series of shifting alliances rather than a single straight-line duel.

Its combat developments are also significant. Official recaps discuss Goku’s Ultra Instinct, Vegeta’s Ultra Ego and the emergence of Frieza’s Black Frieza form near the conclusion. Those developments matter because they differentiate the protagonists’ techniques instead of treating every new form as interchangeable. Ultra Instinct emphasizes automatic movement and defensive precision, while Ultra Ego gives Vegeta a more aggressive risk-and-reward identity.

Granolah ranks below Galactic Patrol Prisoner mainly because its impact depends on events that an anime has not yet announced. It also assumes viewers will follow a more complicated web of history, bargaining and betrayal. If adapted, it could provide some of the franchise’s most mature character tension, but its production status remains unconfirmed.

3. Super Hero — a focused cast shift with a known film connection

Super Hero ranks third, not because its premise lacks value, but because it changes the center of attention. The official manga recap places the arc after Granolah and follows Goten and Trunks as they protect their city. It is also identified as a prequel to the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film.

That setup gives the arc a different appeal from the two stories above. Instead of sending Goku and Vegeta to another large-scale planetary crisis, it returns to Earth and lets the younger generation carry the action. Their everyday identities and responsibilities can support a lighter opening before the conflict expands.

The film connection is important for continuity. Readers should not assume that a manga adaptation would be a wholly separate event from the movie; the official description explicitly positions the arc as a prequel. The manga therefore functions as additional context for the film’s characters and setup, rather than as proof that a new television season has been ordered.

Super Hero is third in this ranking because its placement after Granolah makes it the least immediate continuation for a show that has only just been announced to return. It could nevertheless be an attractive future direction if the anime wants to spotlight Goten and Trunks and vary the scale of its conflicts.

Galactic Patrol and Dragon Ball Super: Beerus are separate projects

Another source of confusion is the announcement of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. The official description presents Beerus as an enhanced edition of the existing Dragon Ball Super anime, with a planned Japanese broadcast in fall 2026. It is not the same project as Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.

Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol New anime continuation After Universe Survival; adapts Galactic Patrol Prisoner Production announced January 25, 2026; release date not stated

The fall 2026 plan belongs to Beerus. It should not be used as a release date for Galactic Patrol, and neither announcement confirms a five-saga schedule.

What a future adaptation could cover

Based on the official information, the only defensible forecast is that Galactic Patrol will begin with Moro’s escape and the Galactic Patrol’s response. The announcement does not say how much manga material the series will adapt, whether it will be a single cour or a longer run, or where a season would end.

Granolah and Super Hero are logical subjects for later discussion because the official recap places them after Galactic Patrol Prisoner. That chronology should be described as manga continuity, however. A later anime announcement could change the order, combine material, skip portions or choose an original story. Until that happens, assigning dates or season numbers would be speculation.

How to follow the story now

  1. Start with the Universe Survival ending if you need the anime context for the announced continuation.
  2. Read the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc in the Dragon Ball Super manga to meet Moro and understand the Galactic Patrol’s role.
  3. Continue to Granolah the Survivor for the Cerealian revenge plot, the Heeters and the Ultra Instinct/Ultra Ego developments.
  4. Read Super Hero afterward to follow Goten and Trunks and see the manga’s prequel relationship to the film.
  5. Track official announcements separately from fan rankings and search-result summaries. A manga arc can be documented without being scheduled for animation.

The Dragon Ball Super manga is therefore the most complete way to see the documented post-Universe Survival sequence today. It does not, by itself, confirm which material the anime will eventually use.

What to take from the “all five” headline

The headline captures a real fan question—what might come after the original Dragon Ball Super anime—but its number is not supported by the official announcements available. There is one confirmed new anime story, two additional documented manga arcs, and a separate enhanced-edition project. Treating that evidence as five confirmed sagas would blur the line between announcement and prediction.

For now, Galactic Patrol Prisoner is the only saga with an announced anime adaptation. Granolah the Survivor is the strongest documented follow-up in terms of character and conflict complexity, while Super Hero offers the clearest change of cast and setting. Those three arcs form a grounded ranking; a complete five-entry list will require an official source that actually identifies all five.
