What your starting personality changes
Personality affects the Hero’s attribute growth rates. The remake reference lists 46 possible personalities and compares their modifiers for six attributes: strength, resilience, agility, stamina, wisdom, and luck. Those percentages describe in-game growth modifiers, not fixed attributes or real-world statistics.

There is no single best starting personality for every player. A preferred result depends on the growth tradeoff you want across those six attributes and how you plan to use the Hero. Recommendations written for older releases should not be assumed to apply to the remake without checking their version-specific data.
Can you change the Hero’s personality later?
Yes. Book items can permanently change a character’s personality, while certain equipped items change it temporarily. The starting quiz result therefore matters, but it does not have to define the Hero for the entire game.

Which version is this guide for?
This guide covers DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake. Square Enix lists the remake on its official product page, and Nintendo’s Switch listing gives November 14, 2024 as the release date for that edition. Because personality names, counts, and route details can vary across releases, use a walkthrough that identifies the HD-2D Remake rather than relying on an older game’s quiz answers.
