How to unlock Symbiosis

Open the Ancestral Grid and choose the character skill you want to advance. The Grid is where you place skills and modifiers; the official PlayStation game listing describes that system.

Progress that skill until it reaches Rank 4. Nacon developer support states: “Following the update to the skill system, symbiosis is now achieved when a skill reaches Rank 4.” Read the developer’s Steam discussion response.

Once the skill is Rank 4, it meets the confirmed Symbiosis unlock condition. If it is below Rank 4, continue advancing its rank through the current skill progression rather than counting connected modifiers.

Why older guides say to connect modifiers
Symbiosis worked differently in the older skill system. An earlier developer overview described a skill adopting the Wyrmling’s element through modifiers, and older instructions may tell you to connect eight. That explanation predates the overhaul: it is not the current unlock requirement.
The skill-rank system and reworked progression are documented in the February 25, 2026 update notes. If a video or guide conflicts with the Rank 4 rule, check whether it was made for the earlier system.

What Symbiosis does
The older developer overview says a symbiotic skill takes on the Wyrmling’s element, changing its visuals and damage. Treat those details as the earlier design description: the current official material cited here confirms the Rank 4 unlock, but does not specify every present-day damage interaction after activation.

The reviewed official sources do not establish a separate character-level prerequisite or explain every action needed to rank up a skill. They also do not provide a complete current damage calculation for Symbiosis. The confirmed requirement is the skill itself reaching Rank 4.
