Before you start Dragon’s Dogma 2, check the button mapping and make the subtitle background easier to read if needed. The available options differ by platform: Capcom’s detailed subtitle and language instructions here are for Xbox Series X|S, while its button-mapping instructions come from the PS5 manual. Capcom has announced a Dark Arisen release for October 9, 2026, but its announcement does not specify the accessibility changes it will include.
Which settings should you check first?
Start with the control layout. If an action feels awkward or uncomfortable, inspect the mapping before you get far into the game. If subtitles are difficult to read, the Xbox version offers a background contrast adjustment, though not larger text or font-color changes according to Capcom.
How to remap buttons
In Capcom’s PS5 online manual, button reassignment is in Options > Controls > Button Mapping. Review the existing layout, then change the actions that do not suit you. This path is documented for PS5; menu names and behavior may differ on other platforms. Capcom’s PS5 manual
If you see a duplicate-controls warning
Capcom’s Xbox FAQ notes that a duplicate-controls warning can appear even when the visible mapping screen does not show duplicate assignments. An action may already be assigned to a button in a way that is not displayed on that screen. If the warning appears, do not assume the visible list is a complete account of every assignment. Make subtitles easier to distinguish on Xbox
On Xbox Series X|S, open Options > Language and adjust Subtitle Background Opacity. Capcom says the background can be set to Dark or Light, with Dark as the default. Its FAQ says the game does not let Xbox players change subtitle font size or color, so this setting changes the contrast behind the text rather than the text itself. Capcom’s Xbox Series X|S FAQ
Change display or voice language on Xbox
Capcom says Xbox players can change the display language during play: open Pause Menu > System > Options > Language, then select Display Language. The FAQ lists Japanese and English voice languages. Its listed display languages are Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Arabic, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Check console-level accessibility on PS5
PS5 also provides system accessibility tools, including display zoom, closed captions, color filters, and controller customization. These are console settings, not confirmed Dragon’s Dogma 2 features; Sony’s support page does not establish which ones integrate with the game. Capcom announced on June 10, 2026 that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is scheduled for October 9, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom says the expansion is being developed to offer “greater accessibility and additional content,” but the announcement does not enumerate the accessibility changes.
