Pawns are more than party members: they can fight alongside you, offer guidance, and take on item-related requests.
What is Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is Capcom’s action RPG set in a fantasy open world. Capcom describes the series as “action games in a fantasy setting where players adventure in an expansive open world of swords and magic.” The base game was released in March 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom’s June 10, 2026 announcement schedules the paid expansion Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen for October 9, 2026.
That announcement lists Dark Arisen for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom says the Switch 2 version combines the base game and expansion content; do not assume the other platform listings use the same bundle arrangement. Check your region and the relevant store for release availability and physical or digital formats.
Which vocation should you choose?
The official manual lists four starting vocations. Each has its own playstyle, strengths, and weaknesses, but the available official information does not establish a best or strongest choice. Pick the role that sounds enjoyable for your first stretch of play, then use the vocation guild if you want to try another.

As you begin, learn the controls and how your chosen vocation feels before spending resources around assumptions about a “perfect” build. Controls can be remapped in Options; button layouts differ by platform, so use the manual for your version. The official manual confirms that vocations can be changed at a vocation guild, making the starting selection a first playstyle decision rather than an irreversible commitment. How do pawns work?
Pawns are adventure companions that can act on their own in the party. Treat them as part of your support and combat group, but also pay attention when a pawn offers to guide you: the official manual describes responding to a pawn’s suggestion to lead the player. Commands and settings can vary with platform, so check the corresponding manual rather than assuming every control prompt is identical.

Using pawn quests
The manual also describes pawn quest objectives that let you request item retrieval and trade with other Arisen. These objectives give you a way to make a specific item-related request through the pawn system; they are separate from simply following a pawn’s guidance while exploring.
What’s included in Dark Arisen?
As of October 8, 2026, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is announced but not yet released; Capcom’s scheduled date is October 9, 2026. The release notice calls it a paid expansion title and lists Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom specifically says the Switch 2 version combines the base game and expansion content. The notice does not establish that the same bundle arrangement applies to the other platform versions.

How to use walkthroughs and explainers
For a specific quest, check that a walkthrough matches your point in the story and platform. Prerequisites, missables, and points of no return are quest-specific details; they should be verified in a route for that quest rather than inferred from a general beginner guide. For advice about performance, patches, or balance, use a guide dated for the relevant platform and update, since those details can change.
One franchise statistic is useful context but should not be mistaken for sales of this game alone: Capcom reported over 14 million cumulative units for the Dragon’s Dogma series as of March 31, 2026. The figure is franchise-wide, not a Dragon’s Dogma 2-only total. Capcom’s announcement is the source for the figure and release information.
