“Relic farming” in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen can mean several different failures: Relic Appraisal returning unwanted equipment, an ordinary enemy failing to reappear, the expansion not activating, or an enemy fleeing with collected Relics. The correct fix depends on which of those symptoms you have.
For Relic Appraisal, align the Arisen’s and main Pawn’s vocations with the weapon or skill you want and use any available result-narrowing buff. For ordinary enemy materials, update the game and treat a full restart as a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed reset. Protect your save while testing: camping is not an inn rest, and “Load from Last Inn Rest” does not include a camp.

Start by identifying what is actually failing
The word “Relic” points to the Dark Arisen Relic Appraisal system, which produces weapons, armor and skills with random parameters. However, players also use “relic farming” to describe ordinary enemy-material runs, expansion-access problems and loot that disappears during an encounter. Those situations have different causes and different evidence behind them.

Relic Appraisal gives the wrong weapon, armor or skill
This is a targeting problem. The system is random, but the developer has explained that vocation matching changes the likelihood of results and that buffs can narrow the result pool. An unwanted result is not, by itself, proof that the appraisal system is broken.

The enemy you farm is missing
This is a spawn or availability problem rather than a Relic-roll problem. Capcom documented a January 28, 2025 title-update fix for some enemies that would not respawn until the game was restarted. That history makes a restart worth trying, but it does not prove that every current farming failure has the same cause.
The Dark Arisen content does not appear
Expansion activation is a separate issue. Contemporary player discussions include access complaints, including a PlayStation 5 disc owner who said the expansion branding did not appear at startup. Those are individual reports, not confirmation of a universal platform defect.
An enemy runs away with gathered Relics
One player report describes an enemy stealing all collected Relics before fleeing. Treat that as an encounter-specific loss report. No confirmed, universal recovery method is established for items lost that way.
How Relic Appraisal weighting works
Vocation matching improves the odds; it does not guarantee an item
In an AUTOMATON WEST interview, director Kinoshita described an algorithm that favors Relics associated with weapons corresponding to the player’s vocation and the main Pawn’s vocation. His exact wording was: “For that reason, we’ve designed an algorithm that makes Relics associated with weapons corresponding to the player’s vocation and their main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear.”
“More likely” is important. The statement describes weighting, not a guaranteed drop, a fixed table or a published percentage. If you are seeking a Fighter sword, make the Arisen and main Pawn vocations relevant to that target before running a controlled test. If you are seeking a skill rather than a weapon, use the vocation associated with that skill as your targeting hypothesis.

Buffs narrow the possible results
Kinoshita also said: “There is also a system in the game that allows players to apply buffs to narrow down the results.” Use the narrowing buff available in your current game state when you want a more focused pool. The interview does not provide a complete list of buff names, every effect or a numerical change in probability, so do not treat any particular buff as a guaranteed item filter unless the game itself describes it that way.
Progression and map depth influence the design
Relic levels are designed around player progression and the depth of the map. That does not create an absolute area lock: the director specifically explained that an early area is not restricted to only its lowest-level item and that occasional higher-level drops can occur. A high-level result in an earlier location is therefore possible without proving that the loot table is malfunctioning.
There is no verified public drop-rate table
The available developer material does not publish a named Relic drop-rate statistic. It also does not establish every Relic source, every buff interaction or a universal reset schedule. Do not rely on percentage claims attributed to Capcom unless an official source actually supplies them.
Step-by-step: make a Relic-targeting test
Use a repeatable test instead of changing several variables at once. This will tell you whether you are seeing normal random variation or a genuine access problem.
- Write down the target. Specify the weapon, armor piece or skill you want. “Better Relics” is too broad to evaluate; a named target lets you compare results.
- Choose the matching Arisen vocation. Switch the Arisen to the vocation associated with the desired weapon or skill before you begin the test.
- Set the main Pawn’s vocation deliberately. Because the weighting includes the main Pawn’s vocation, do not leave that choice accidental when you are trying to target a particular category.
- Apply an available narrowing buff. Use the in-game buff system described by the developer. Record which buff you used, because different buffs may narrow results differently; the published interview does not document the full effect list.
- Keep the location and progression state consistent. Run several appraisals in the same area and at the same progression point before drawing a conclusion. Map depth and progression are part of the system’s design, so a result from a deeper location is not directly comparable to one from an early area.
- Separate a bad roll from a missing system. If the appraisal interface opens and returns a Relic, an unwanted result is consistent with random selection. If the appraisal feature, required content or expected item category is absent entirely, investigate expansion access and game version instead of repeatedly farming.
- Record outcomes without inventing a rate. A personal sample can show whether your setup is producing the category you want, but it cannot establish an official drop percentage. Report your own count as an observation, not as a Capcom statistic.
When ordinary enemy drops are the problem
Confirm that the target enemy is actually available
Before changing vocations or buffs, verify that the enemy you intend to farm is present in the location you are using. A missing enemy means there is nothing to loot, and Relic Appraisal weighting cannot affect an enemy that has not spawned.

Update first, then use a restart as a diagnostic
Capcom’s January 28, 2025 official Steam title update listed a fix for an issue in which some enemies would not respawn until the game was restarted. If your target has disappeared, bring the game to the latest update offered for your platform and restart it completely. Check the location again after loading.

The update proves that a historical respawn defect existed and was addressed; it does not establish that every enemy, every platform or every current Dark Arisen spawn cycle is controlled by that defect.
Separate enemy availability from the item drop itself
If the enemy reappears but does not drop the material you expected, you have reached a different question: whether that enemy can drop that item and under what conditions. The material available here does not verify a complete ordinary-drop table or current rates, so do not infer that a missing item proves a broken respawn.
Save behavior while testing a farm
“Last Inn Rest” excludes camping
Capcom’s Steam FAQ, updated October 12, 2026, defines “Load from Last Inn Rest” as the last time the Arisen rested at an inn or dwelling. Camping does not count as an inn rest. If you are relying on that recovery point before a risky encounter, camp-only progress will not be included.
Autosaves have specific triggers
The same FAQ states that autosaves occur when you enter a new area or rest at an inn. These are save behaviors, not confirmation that a Relic roll, enemy spawn or expansion state has reset. Treat the save event and the farm-reset question as separate systems.

Saving is unavailable during an enemy battle
Manual saving cannot be performed while an enemy battle is active. Finish the encounter and reach a safe state before attempting to secure progress. Do not assume that a battle-area camp provides the same rollback point as an inn or dwelling.
Expansion-access symptoms need their own checklist
If the Relic Appraisal feature or Dark Arisen content is missing altogether, stop farming and verify access. Repeating a run cannot make an unactivated feature appear.
- Confirm the edition and entitlement. Make sure the copy you launched includes the Dark Arisen content you intend to use. The official Steam FAQ is written for Steam and may not describe every console activation path.
- Check for current updates. Install the latest platform update before diagnosing a feature as unavailable. The January 2025 title update demonstrates why version matters for troubleshooting.
- Restart after confirming the update. A full restart is useful for refreshing both the game process and the content check, but it is not proof that an activation problem has been fixed.
- Compare the symptom with the platform. A PS5 disc player’s report that expansion branding was absent at startup is evidence of one player’s experience, not a rule for all disc copies or all PS5 systems.
- Use platform support for entitlement failures. If the content remains absent after an update and restart, the problem is outside Relic weighting. Provide the platform, edition and exact missing feature when contacting official support.
If an enemy appears to steal your Relics
A current player discussion uses the phrase “steals all my relics” for an enemy that flees after taking gathered items. That wording is useful when searching for similar reports, but it is not an official description of a universal mechanic or bug.
For a live encounter, reduce loss risk by securing a legitimate save outside combat before experimenting. Remember that camping is not recorded as the “Last Inn Rest,” and saving is unavailable during battle. If the items are already gone, do not assume that loading from a camp will restore them; Capcom’s documented save definition does not support that assumption.

What is and is not known about Norgan Ducat farming
Players have asked, “Anyone found a good way to farm Norgan Ducats?” and “Can you farm them?” Those questions identify a real search need, but the available official and developer material does not verify the exact Norgan loot source, a drop percentage or a respawn/reset timer.
That limitation changes the correct advice. You can apply the two-track diagnosis: use vocation targeting and result-narrowing buffs for Relic Appraisal, and use enemy-availability checks plus update/restart troubleshooting for ordinary drops. You cannot responsibly turn those general principles into a guaranteed Norgan route or a numeric farming rate.
If a guide claims a precise Norgan Ducat percentage or a fixed reset interval, treat it as a player observation unless it cites an official table. A personal route may be useful, but it should be labeled as platform, version and experience-specific rather than presented as a universal rule.

Official timeline and evidence boundaries
January 28, 2025: documented enemy-respawn fix
Capcom’s official Steam title update listed “Fixing issue where some enemies wouldn’t respawn until the game was restarted.” This is the strongest direct evidence for a restart-related farming symptom, but it is historical and limited to the affected enemy behavior described in that update.
September 1, 2026: Relic Appraisal described in the official Steam announcement
The official Steam announcement describes Dark Arisen’s Relic Appraisal as a way to acquire weapons, armor and skills with random parameters. It does not supply a complete loot table, exact Norgan sources or a reset schedule.
October 12, 2026: Steam FAQ save definitions
Capcom’s Steam FAQ clarifies the difference between an inn or dwelling rest and camping, identifies area entry and inn rest as autosave triggers, and states that saving is unavailable during enemy battles. Those statements explain rollback behavior, not Relic or spawn refresh rules.
Quick Recap
Use this checklist before declaring farming broken
- Identify whether you are appraising Relics, farming an ordinary enemy, accessing the expansion or recovering lost loot.
- For appraisal, name the exact weapon, armor piece or skill you want.
- Set the Arisen’s vocation and main Pawn’s vocation to match the target category.
- Use an available result-narrowing buff and record the setup.
- Keep location and progression consistent while comparing results.
- For a missing enemy, update the game and perform a full restart before testing again.
- Do not treat the 2025 respawn fix as proof that every current spawn problem has one cause.
- Confirm that the Dark Arisen content is included and activated for your edition and platform.
- Secure progress at an inn or dwelling when rollback matters; camping is excluded from “Last Inn Rest.”
- Do not rely on an official Norgan Ducat drop rate, source or reset timer unless a current primary source publishes it.
