Choose by the stats you need, and mix styles across enhancement slots when you want to combine priorities.
What each smithing style does

The guides do not establish that Wyrmfire produces identical final stats for every preceding style sequence. Which smithing style is best?
There is no universal winner: the right style depends on the equipment’s role and the stats your build needs. Compare a weapon’s physical versus Magick priorities and armor’s physical versus Magick Defense needs. Then decide whether knockdown power or resistance is more valuable than a stronger specialized stat increase.
- Choose Vermundian when you want a broad, balanced improvement rather than specializing.
- Choose Elven for Magick-oriented equipment or stronger Magick Defense.
- Choose Battahli when Strength and Defense matter more than Magick.
- Choose Dwarven when weapon knockdown power or armor knockdown resistance is a priority.
Different styles can use different materials, so access and upgrade costs may also affect the decision. Treat any claim that one style is simply “best” as build-dependent; the guides themselves describe competing goals rather than a single best route.

Can you mix smithing styles?
Yes. You can use different styles in separate enhancement slots, rather than committing the whole upgrade path to one style. This lets you combine a specialized stat gain with Dwarven knockdown benefits when that tradeoff suits the equipment. Since the cited guides do not establish that every sequence leads to the same Wyrmfire result, avoid assuming that mixed paths are identical at the final enhancement.
Where to find each smithing style
- Vermundian: Weapon and armor merchants in Vermund settlements.
- Elven: Sacred Arbor.
- Battahli: Merchants across Battahl.
- Dwarven: Dwarven smiths unlocked through sidequest progression. The route depends on which vendor you pursue.
- Wyrmfire: The Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine.

When to use Wyrmfire
Wyrmfire is a later enhancement, not one of the initial regional styles. The guides place it after three enhancement ranks and say it further raises stats while lowering equipment weight; it requires Wyrmslife Crystals and is performed by the Dragonforged at Bay Wayside Shrine. The available sources do not confirm whether the result varies with the order of styles used in the earlier ranks, so choose those ranks for their immediate benefits rather than relying on an assumed universal final result.
