To start Dream in Flames in Where Winds Meet, complete Chapter 1, “Heaven Has No Pier,” then return to the ruined Blissful Retreat and interact with Yi Dao’s sword near a tree by Sweetwine Tower. The quest takes you through a dream version of the village, a story duel you cannot win, objectives with Uncle Zhou, a fight against Yi Dao, and a lakeside festival. Game8 describes this as a hidden Worldly Affairs quest; other guides use different labels for the same events. Details below are based on third-party walkthroughs, and the live game’s patch status has not been confirmed.
How to unlock Dream in Flames
- Complete Chapter 1, Heaven Has No Pier.
- Return to the ruined Blissful Retreat in Qinghe.
- Find Yi Dao’s sword near a tree by Sweetwine Tower and interact with it. This takes you into Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat.
These trigger details are reported by Game8’s Dream in Flames guide. If the quest does not begin, check that Chapter 1 is complete and that you are interacting with the sword in the ruined village.
Dream in Flames walkthrough
Cross the dreamscape
Move through the bamboo forest and continue across the mountain and cloud platforms until you reach a hut. There you meet a senior swordsman. The duel is a story sequence: the guide says you cannot win it, so focus on progressing through the encounter rather than trying to defeat him.
Follow the swordsman and find Uncle Zhou
After the duel, follow the swordsman farther into the dreamscape. Continue alone when the path separates you from him, then make your way to Blissful Retreat. Speak to Uncle Zhou near Sweetwine Tower.

Defeat Yi Dao
Confront the drunken outsider to reveal the Yi Dao boss encounter, then defeat him. Game8 notes that his three-hit sweeping slash covers a large area and can be difficult to dodge or parry. Its recommended response is to use the Celestial Seize mystic art during the move to interrupt it and briefly disarm him. This is guide advice, not independently tested strategy.
Finish the banquet and festival objectives
- Return to Uncle Zhou and move the First Jar Banquet to the indicated stall.
- Speak with Uncle Zhou again.
- Go to the lakeside festival and follow the on-screen charge and attack prompts to set off the fireworks and reach the closing scene.

How to return to the dreamscape after the quest
Game8 says you can re-enter Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat by touching Yi Dao’s sword after completing the quest. Alternatively, select the area from the world map if you activated its Boundary Stone. The map option depends on that activation; the sword is the other reported route back.
