What has been announced about the DREDGE movie?
Black Salt Games and Story Kitchen announced the adaptation on April 9, 2024. It was described as a live-action feature film in development. That confirms an announced project, not a completed film or a production that has started.

The announcement’s reported pitch called it “The Sixth Sense on the water” and described a “grounded atmospheric cosmic horror blend of HP Lovecraft and Ernest Hemingway.” That is a sales pitch for the project, not a confirmed plot synopsis or finalized creative brief.
Black Salt Games said: “We are excited to partner with such an experienced studio team to bring the world we created to live action and ignite the imagination of audiences across the globe,” as reported by Game Informer.

What is known about the film’s development?
On his project page, Kehan Miller says he is guiding development and negotiations for the adaptation. His page reports early concept-design work with Wētā Workshop and script development involving director Andrew Adamson. It also says Greenberg Glusker is providing legal counsel and representation with UTA. These are details from Miller’s account; they are not a distributor announcement.
No release date, cast, distributor or confirmed production start is established in the sources reviewed. There is therefore no supported release window to report, and the available information does not confirm that filming is underway.

The game launched on March 30, 2023, for PC and consoles, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox. The film’s pitch suggests a balance of grounded atmosphere and cosmic horror, but the game’s specific story and mechanics have not been confirmed as the movie’s plot.
