Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchBefore downloading anything, identify what Windows is actually trying to launch:
- Which program appears in the error?
drvmgrui.dllnormally belongs to 360 Driver Master, also associated with the Chinese name 360驱动大师. - When does the message appear? Note whether it happens at Windows sign-in, while opening Driver Master, after an update, or after an uninstall.
- What is the complete message? “The specified module could not be found” can indicate a missing dependency, not just a missing DLL.
- Is the application 32-bit or 64-bit? Public records for
drvmgrui.dllidentify x86, or 32-bit, builds. A 32-bit DLL can work correctly on 64-bit Windows when loaded by a 32-bit application. - Was antivirus involved? Check whether Windows Security quarantined or removed the file.
- Where is the file located? A copy beside the Driver Master executable is plausible. A copy appearing unexpectedly in a system directory or temporary folder needs more scrutiny.
The safest goal is to repair or remove the 360 Driver Master installation that owns drvmgrui.dll, not to copy an isolated DLL into System32.

What drvmgrui.dll is
drvmgrui.dll is an application-private interface DLL associated with 360 Driver Master from 360.cn. It is not a Windows system DLL, Microsoft Visual C++ runtime file, DirectX component, or known game dependency.

|---|---|
| 2.0.0.1380 | 2.37 MB |
| 2.0.0.1320 | 2.41 MB |
| 2.0.0.1170 | 2.73 MB |
Treat these as identification clues, not a current release list. Do not download a catalog version and mix it with another Driver Master installation.
Error messages and what they mean
Commonly reported wording includes:
- “The program can’t start because drvmgrui.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “There was a problem starting drvmgrui.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “Error loading drvmgrui.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because drvmgrui.dll was not found.”
- “drvmgrui.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
360 Driver Master can also report that the file was damaged or is not the original file, then request a reinstall. That points toward an incomplete update, a changed installation path, a damaged file, or an antivirus action.
If Windows says the specified module could not be found even though drvmgrui.dll is visible in File Explorer, a neighboring dependency may be missing. The named DLL is not always the missing file.
Fix 1: uninstall and reinstall 360 Driver Master
For this particular DLL, a clean reinstall is the fastest and most reliable repair.
Remove the existing installation
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on some Windows 10 builds.
- Search for 360 Driver Master.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it and choose Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
If it is not listed:
- Press Windows + R.
- Enter
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select 360 Driver Master in Programs and Features.
- Choose Uninstall and restart.
Do not begin by deleting drvmgrui.dll manually. The uninstaller should remove the executable, startup references, and installation records together.
Install from the official source
After restarting, obtain 360 Driver Master from 360’s official product page rather than a DLL catalog or software-repack site. The page currently provides a lightweight installer named guanwang__360DrvMgrInstaller_beta.exe and a network-card or offline-oriented installer named gwwk__360DrvMgrInstaller_net.exe.
Use the default installation path. Avoid changing the folder unless you have a specific reason, because 360 has documented cases where a customized or corrupted installation-path registry entry caused DrvMgrUI.dll to be reported as damaged.
Open Driver Master after installation. The repair worked if it starts without the DLL message and its executable and DLL are in the same application directory.
If the installer fails, download it again from the official 360 page, temporarily review security software detections, and check available disk space. Do not replace the missing file with a random copy.

Fix 2: check the 360 installation-path registry entry
This is an advanced fix for the specific “damaged file” or “not the original file” message after an update. Reinstalling normally is safer.

Back up the registry
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
regedit. - Press Enter.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- In Registry Editor, select File > Export.
- Save a backup of the registry, or at least the key you are about to inspect.
Check these locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionApp Paths360DrvMgr.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWOW6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionApp Paths360DrvMgr.exe
Look for the (Default) and Path values. Compare them with the real folder containing 360DrvMgr.exe. 360’s documented failure involved an erroneous extra backslash before 360DrvMgr.
If the values point to an old, nonexistent, or malformed folder, reinstall Driver Master to the default path instead of guessing at registry edits. If you correct the values, close Registry Editor and restart Windows.
The fix worked when Driver Master launches and the damaged-file warning does not return. If the warning remains, undo experimental edits from the backup and perform a clean reinstall.
Fix 3: inspect antivirus quarantine and the file’s location
Security software may remove an application DLL, especially when the program arrived in a bundled package or was extracted into a temporary directory.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Open Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
drvmgrui.dll,DrvMgrUI.dll, 360 Driver Master, or its installer. - Note the detected file path and detection name.
- If the event is recent, leave the file quarantined until its source is established.
Restore or allow the file only when you can verify that it came from the official 360 installer and the full installation is legitimate. Otherwise, remove the associated package and reinstall from the official source.
Some security research associates bundled Driver Master or LuDaShi packages with potentially unwanted software or trojanized installers. That does not prove that every legitimate copy of drvmgrui.dll is malicious, but the filename alone cannot establish safety.
Check the file’s full path, the parent executable, its digital signature when present, and the installer that placed it. A copy in the expected Driver Master directory is more consistent with the application than an unexplained copy in System32, SysWOW64, or a random temporary folder.
Fix 4: repair Windows components only when Windows itself is also damaged
drvmgrui.dll is a third-party application file, so System File Checker normally will not recreate it. Run Windows repair commands when other Windows components are failing too, or when several unrelated applications report system-file errors.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. Success means DISM completes without an unrepaired component-store error and SFC reports that it repaired files or found no integrity violations. Test Driver Master afterward.

If both commands complete successfully but drvmgrui.dll is still missing, that result is expected for an application-private DLL. Reinstall Driver Master rather than repeating SFC indefinitely.
When manually hunting through Windows repair steps and trying to determine what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported problems; its free scan shows findings, while repair requires the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling 360 Driver Master remains the definitive fix for this app-specific file.
Fix 5: check dependencies and Visual C++
Do not install Visual C++ just because the filename ends in .dll. drvmgrui.dll is not itself a Visual C++ runtime.
Install or repair a Visual C++ package only if the complete error explicitly names a dependency such as:
VCRUNTIME140.dll
MSVCP140.dll
VCRUNTIME140_1.dll
Use Microsoft’s Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable Downloads page. For a 32-bit Driver Master process, the x86 package is the relevant one, named vc_redist.x86.exe. Installing only vc_redist.x64.exe does not substitute for it.
After installing the named dependency:
- Restart Windows.
- Launch Driver Master again.
- If the same
drvmgrui.dllmessage remains, repair or reinstall Driver Master.
A missing dependency can produce “The specified module could not be found” while drvmgrui.dll itself is present. Dependency errors should therefore be judged by the complete message, not by the first filename shown.
Fix 6: do not use Device Manager as the primary DLL repair
Device Manager can help if the original problem began immediately after a graphics, chipset, storage, or network-driver change, but updating a device driver normally does not restore an application DLL.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo check for a related hardware change:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters, Network adapters, or System devices.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties and open the Driver tab.
- Use Roll Back Driver only if the option is available and the timing clearly matches the failure.
- Otherwise choose Update Driver > Search automatically for drivers.
Restart and test the application. If Driver Master itself is the only program affected, return to the uninstall-and-reinstall procedure instead of repeatedly changing hardware drivers.
Manually hunting through dozens of hardware packages can make it difficult to identify which driver is actually stale. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and show driver findings, while the full version performs the driver installation; it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the application that owns drvmgrui.dll.
Fix 7: handle startup errors after Driver Master was removed
If the error appears at every sign-in even though Driver Master is gone, Windows may still be launching an orphaned startup entry or scheduled task.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Disable an entry clearly associated with 360 Driver Master, if present.
- Restart Windows and test.
Also check Task Scheduler for a task that points to a deleted Driver Master folder. Remove only an entry you can positively identify as belonging to the uninstalled program. Do not delete unrelated Windows tasks.

Why regsvr32 and system folders are wrong fixes
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose the registration entry points used by COM or ActiveX components. 360 does not document DrvMgrUI.dll as a self-registering component.
Running this by habit is therefore not a repair:
regsvr32 drvmgrui.dll
It can produce an entry-point error, and even a successful registration would not repair a damaged Driver Master installation.
Do not copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Windows normally searches an application’s directory early when loading its private DLLs. Putting an unrelated copy in a system folder can create version conflicts and unsafe DLL-loading conditions. If manual recovery is unavoidable, use a verified official installer and place the matching file only in the matching Driver Master directory.
FAQ
Is drvmgrui.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with 360 Driver Master and is not expected to ship as a normal Windows component in System32 or SysWOW64.
Does it belong to a game?
There is no reliable evidence that unrelated games depend on it. A game may be the program you were launching when the message appeared, but first identify the parent process and installed application.
Is the file safe?
The filename alone is not enough to decide. Check the full path, signature, installer source, and antivirus history. A legitimate Driver Master installation and a suspicious bundled package should not be treated identically.
Recommended Free Tools
Should I download drvmgrui.dll from a DLL website?
No. Random DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, or a mismatched build, and they often leave the damaged installation or missing dependency untouched. Use the official 360 Driver Master installer instead.
Do I need the 32-bit or 64-bit version?
Public records found for drvmgrui.dll are x86. That can be correct on 64-bit Windows because a 32-bit application uses 32-bit DLLs. Match the file to the exact Driver Master installation rather than choosing by the Windows operating system’s bitness.
What if the error says the file is present but cannot load?
Check neighboring dependencies, antivirus history, and the Driver Master installation path. “The specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency of drvmgrui.dll.
When should I escalate?
Escalate to a full malware scan or remove the package if the file came from an unofficial repack, appears in an unexpected directory, repeatedly returns after quarantine, or has no credible installation source. If the official reinstall still fails, preserve the complete error wording and the file path before seeking application-specific support.
