Smallcaps reported point-in-time ratings of 87% “Very Positive” Steam reviews, 4.8/5 on the Xbox Store and 4.6/5 on the PlayStation Store. Ratings and review totals can change, so these figures describe the reception reported on 6 October 2026 rather than a guaranteed current score.
Smallcaps attributed this launch assessment to PlaySide CEO Benn Skender: “It was important that our first PC and console game using the Dumb Ways to Die IP was a strongly reviewed, enjoyable experience for players, and we’ve achieved that with the launch of Dumb Ways to Build,” The statement reflects the company’s view; the report’s figures are not an independent review of the game.
