On PS5, Dune: Awakening offers an alternate preset or limited controller remapping, plus adjustable stick sensitivity and inversion. The official listing does not promise a fully customizable button map or publish an in-game menu path for these options. If D-pad left or right stops responding on the map, Funcom lists a game-specific workaround; if inputs lag, check connectivity separately from controller settings.
What can you customize on PS5?
The PlayStation Store listing describes controller remapping as “Basic”: players can switch to an alternate preset layout, or some remapping support is provided. It also lists adjustable stick sensitivity and stick inversion. That is the documented scope; the listing does not establish that every button can be rebound freely, and the official sources cited here do not give an exact in-game settings path. For additional controller-level customization, DualSense Edge profiles can assign buttons and adjust stick sensitivity and deadzones. This is an optional layer, not a requirement for the PS5 game or a remedy for a game-side input bug. See PlayStation controller support.
Fix D-pad left or right on the map
Funcom’s known-issues page lists an issue in which D-pad left and right may stop working while viewing the map. Its workaround is to press Cross (also called A in the notice) or close and reopen the map. This is a reported game-specific issue, not by itself evidence of a faulty controller; its status can change with patches. Check Funcom’s Known Issues page for current status.

When button icons show as text
Funcom notes that unsupported controllers can display text strings instead of button icons. A missing or incorrect glyph can be a compatibility or interface problem; it does not, on its own, show that the physical button has failed.
Funcom’s instruction that a PS5 controller on PC requires Steam Input applies to the PC version only, where it recommends Steam Input and a wired connection. Native PS5 players do not need to enable Steam Input. The PS5 version’s controls and UI were adapted for console: Funcom Chief Marketing Officer Erling Ellingsen wrote on July 2, 2026, “UI and controls have been tailored to the console experience” in PlayStation.Blog.

Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Check whether the controller itself is at fault
If the same buttons misbehave in other games or across the PS5 interface, try PlayStation’s controller-level guidance rather than treating it as a Dune-specific setting. PlayStation says DualSense controller software updates arrive with PS5 system software updates; its manual update route is Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) > DualSense Wireless Controller Device Software.

- Turn off the PS5.
- Use a pin or similar tool to press the reset button on the back of the controller.
- Connect the controller to the console with a USB cable.
- Press the PS button.
If button, stick, or connection issues continue, PlayStation directs users to PlayStation Repairs and controller support. A reset is for persistent controller-level symptoms, not the map-only D-pad issue Funcom lists.
Separate delayed input from button settings
Online delay can feel like an input problem without indicating that a button assignment is wrong. Funcom’s PS5 connectivity guidance recommends these checks:

- Select a server near your location.
- Run Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
- Try a wired Ethernet connection and restart your router or modem.
- Check the PS5 NAT type and PlayStation Network status.
- Fully close and restart the game instead of leaving it suspended.
- Install available console updates.
