The live options can change, and Funcom announced a reduced server list for the console launch in September 2026. Check the in-game server browser before choosing. To make sense of its choices, use the hierarchy Region → World → Sietch: choose a region for connection quality, a World to play alongside friends, then an available Sietch to begin.
How Dune: Awakening’s server list is organized
Funcom describes three levels: a Region is the geographical server location; a World groups game servers and shared social maps; and a Sietch is an instance of the Survival Map in Hagga Basin. A World is therefore not one individual Hagga Basin instance. Each Sietch can hold up to 60 players, according to the Funcom Help Center.
Because the available names and status can change, the in-game browser is the useful current list—not a launch-era list reproduced on a webpage. Funcom’s September 14, 2026 console announcement says some Worlds and Sietches were removed to keep official servers active, but its published announcement does not establish the exact current names by region. See Funcom’s console server-list announcement, then verify the options shown in your game.
How to choose a Region, World, and Sietch
- Region: Favor a geographically suitable location and connection quality. The game can select an option based on ping.
- World: Check where your friends are playing. The game’s automatic choice can also account for friends on a server.
- Sietch: Choose one that is open for character creation. If the specific server your friend uses is locked, another Sietch in the same World may let you start and later visit them.
- Server type: Decide whether you want an official server or a privately hosted one; private-server settings and support differ.
Funcom’s guidance says players can select manually or “let the game pick the best option it can find for you based on the ping and friends you have playing on that server.” Automatic selection is a useful starting point; use the browser to confirm that the chosen World and Sietch suit your group.

Why a server may be locked
A lock applies to an individual server, not necessarily its entire World. Funcom says it can temporarily stop new character creation when player activity is very high, to limit overcrowding and long queues. The system periodically reevaluates activity and may reopen character creation when conditions fall within its acceptable range. The threshold updates dynamically, so a popular server may take longer to unlock. If a World appears locked, check the individual Sietch status; Funcom says an earlier issue that made Worlds appear locked was resolved.
If your friend’s Sietch is unavailable
- Check its status again later; locks can be temporary.
- If you want to start sooner, look for another open Sietch in the same World.
- Start there and use the option Funcom describes for visiting your friend’s server.
Being in the same World can therefore matter even when you cannot initially create a character on the same Sietch.

Official and private servers: what differs
A rented private server contains one Hagga Basin and belongs to a World with other private servers. Players can use shared social hubs and the Deep Desert with people on other private servers in that World. Those social maps are provided by the host; they are not individually rented or controlled by a player.
Private-server settings depend on the provider. Funcom lists options that may include disabling security zones, taxation, or sandstorms, as well as naming a server and setting a password. Its Help Center says private servers do not currently have an admin control panel or character transfers. Funcom support also cannot intervene in gameplay problems on independently hosted servers. Compare the provider’s current regional availability, settings, price, and support before renting; Funcom says it does not set rental prices.

- Whether the Region, World, and Sietch you want appear in the live browser.
- Whether character creation is currently open on the Sietch.
- Whether your friends are in the same World, especially if their Sietch is locked.
- Whether you are selecting an official or private server and, for private hosting, what settings and support the provider actually offers.
- Whether an online list is specific to your platform and current date. The console list changed for its September 2026 launch, so older lists may not match what you can select.
