Leave every other stone where it is. This is the Waterside Ruins board puzzle, not the separate Duskwood Hill Ruins challenge with five pillars.
How to solve the Duskwood Waterside Ruins puzzle
- Find the white stone beside the Abyss Cresset and pick it up.
- Look at the board’s existing white stones and identify the gap that would make a straight line of five.
- Place the stone in that gap. Do not move any of the other stones.
The community entry for Abyss Cresset of Duskwood says to use the provided stone and leave the rest of the board alone. PowerPyx’s Waterside Ruins guide specifies that the placement should form a line of five; Vault’s guide likewise describes filling the gap indicated by the white stones.
Where to find the Waterside Ruins
The puzzle is in Duskwood, in Hernand. PowerPyx places the Waterside Ruins southwest of Duskwood Bandit Camp and east of Hernand. Vault describes them beside the river, between a cave and Kilnden Workshop. The location descriptions are approximate rather than a coordinate or grid reference.
Make sure you have the right Duskwood puzzle
There are two Duskwood Abyss Cresset challenges that can be confused in search results. The Waterside Ruins puzzle uses black and white stones on a board. The separate Hill Ruins challenge uses five pillars that you align by adjusting their heights. If your puzzle has pillars rather than a stone board, these instructions are for the wrong location.

Reward and placement detail
The community entry reports an Abyss Artifact for completing the Duskwood cresset puzzle. Vault also reports that solving the Waterside challenge activates a permanent fast-travel point; that extra detail is reported by Vault, while the community entry specifically lists the artifact.
The written guides do not establish a row-and-column coordinate for the exact square. Use the board’s existing white stones to identify the missing spot that completes five in a line rather than relying on an invented grid position.
