Techland announced it on August 20, describing a set of community-driven quality-of-life changes and fixes for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. It is primarily a bug-fix update, not a new story expansion or major gameplay system.
What is the August 2024 Dying Light 2 update?
Techland’s Community QoL Update (1.18) was announced on August 20, 2024. The announcement identifies PC, Xbox and PlayStation, but does not give separate platform build numbers or a platform-by-platform release schedule.
The notes group changes into community-driven improvements, co-op, gameplay, environment, technical issues and UI. The examples below highlight what players are most likely to notice; consult Techland’s full notes for the complete list.
What changed in patch 1.18?
Co-op and gear
- Quick Join no longer has the listed issue that could prevent players from joining each other.
- Fixes address some co-op quest-completion problems, including issues during the Epilogue.
- Gear pieces can be dropped, with some Premium items excluded from the change.
Gameplay and progression
- In Nightmare Mode, players can show the immunity bar with the Extended HUD button.
- The notes include fixes for quest and encounter progression, incorrect Volatile spawns during certain nighttime quests, and a GRE health reset that could occur when the player moved too far away.
- A PlayStation 5 issue involving the Bloody Ties DLC and the “Start Activity” feature is also addressed.
Environment, technical issues and UI
- Environment fixes include rain appearing indoors and chests clipping into surroundings.
- Technical fixes address an Nvidia launch crash, a missing Frame Generation option, ray-tracing decals, visual corruption, and presentation problems in menus or cutscenes.
- A UI fix corrects the display of a backpack row.
Is Tower Raid part of update 1.18?
No. Techland mentioned Tower Raid as work in progress and part of the broader support context, not as a feature included in Community QoL Update 1.18. The published patch notes describe fixes and quality-of-life changes rather than a new mode or expansion.
