What did The Beast do at Gamescom 2025?
Techland’s 2025 Gamescom presence was about letting visitors experience the already announced game. The company promoted a Castor Woods Tourism Center booth with activities and a demo, and separately announced a playable demo in Hall 6. Neither was the game’s first reveal. What is Dying Light: The Beast?
The Beast is a standalone survival adventure starring Kyle Crane in Castor Woods. Techland’s official description presents a first-person game built around parkour, melee combat, day-and-night survival, beast-like abilities, and an off-road vehicle. It also supports cooperative play for up to four players. Newcomers can start without knowing the earlier games, while familiarity with Crane’s story can provide extra context. When did it launch, and what is its current status?
Techland’s current FAQ gives September 18, 2025 as the launch date for PC, PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. An earlier Techland notice gave September 19, 2025, so the current FAQ is the date to use. The game is now released, not an upcoming Gamescom possibility. Check Techland’s current FAQ.
Techland’s FAQ says the Restored Land update has been available since March 26, 2026, and is free for existing owners. It adds survival rules including limited resources and permanent clearing of defeated infected, as well as an optional One Life rule. Is there a physical PS5 edition?
Yes. Techland says a physical PlayStation 5 edition was released as a first-anniversary pre-order, published by Super Rare Games in Retail Version, Super Rare Games Edition, and Anniversary Edition variants. That confirms a physical PS5 release, but does not establish current stock or price. Check the retailer’s listing for availability. Techland’s FAQ includes the physical-edition details.

The official sources cited here establish that The Beast had already been revealed in 2024 and received a demo showcase in 2025. They do not establish whether a separate Dying Light project was announced at Gamescom 2025, so the 2025 demo should not be treated as evidence either way.
