Ultimate Edition
Ultimate was the regular premium edition. Its advertised package included up to seven days of early access, a Season 1 Premium Pass, a smaller FC Points allocation delivered in three monthly drops, and additional items for FUT, Career and The Grounds. EA’s examples include an extra Evolution Slot, Career additions, and cosmetic or consumable items. Preorder rewards also changed according to when the order was placed, so an Ultimate buyer should check the entitlement wording attached to the original order rather than assume every preorder received the same FC 26 ICON reward.

Ultimate Plus
Ultimate Plus was aimed at players planning to build a FUT club before launch and continue through several seasons. It included the same advertised early-access duration as Ultimate, a larger FC Points allocation delivered in five monthly drops, and Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5. EA also listed additional FUT, Career and The Grounds content, including a Hall of FUT pick and extra FC 26 rewards. It was sold only during the early-bird period, not as a permanent tier above Ultimate.

The table uses EA’s maximum or advertised entitlements. A maximum is not the same as an immediate grant, and an item named in an edition description may still have a claim deadline or platform restriction.

Because the early-access dates have passed, do not pay a premium today for access you can no longer use. If a retailer still displays an old preorder page, treat its wording as historical until the seller confirms the actual entitlement attached to your account.
How the FC Points allowance is delivered
FC Points are not deposited as one guaranteed lump sum on purchase. EA says the first grant and subsequent monthly drops depend on the required distribution steps, beginning with logging in. The quantities in the comparison table are therefore conditional maximums.
- Confirm the edition on the account that owns FC 27. A disc, console profile and EA account can involve different storefront records, so check the order receipt and the account used to start the game.
- Log in and complete the initial distribution steps. EA’s terms tie the monthly schedule to the first grant after login.
- Track each monthly drop. The larger Plus package is spread over five drops; the Ultimate package is spread over three. Missing the schedule can prevent the full advertised amount.
- Meet the applicable deadline. The Plus and Ultimate deadlines are different, and EA states that redemption after 26 September 2027 produces no FC Points.
Do not convert either allocation into a cash-equivalent discount without a regional store price and a stated valuation method. EA Points are spendable inside the game and do not refund the purchase price of the edition.
Platform and feature checks
EA lists EA App, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic storefronts for the regular Ultimate offering, while its editions FAQ separately discusses Nintendo platforms. Ultimate Plus had no Nintendo-platform or Epic Games Store option in EA’s comparison and was restricted to the early-bird period. The safest process is to open the edition page for your exact platform and region before checkout; the label on another storefront is not proof that the same entitlements transfer.

The Grounds, including Clubs, is unavailable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. EA also warns that some features vary by platform. If Clubs or another The Grounds activity is central to your purchase, check the hardware requirement first rather than assuming that every edition supports every mode on every console.
Who should choose Ultimate?
Current buyers who want premium extras
Ultimate is the relevant premium comparison for a new buyer after the Plus window. Its value comes from the Season 1 Premium Pass, the smaller FC Points package and the extra FUT, Career and The Grounds items. Since its early-access period has already passed, judge it on the content you can still claim, not on launch-week timing.
Career-focused players
Career players can benefit from the Career additions included in Ultimate’s package, but the edition does not lock the mode behind a paywall. Every edition contains the full game. If you rarely use FUT and do not care about cosmetics or consumables, compare the price difference with how often you will actually use the Career extras.
Players who mainly use Kick-Off or Seasons
Kick-Off and Seasons players receive the same underlying game access as other editions. Neither premium package changes the basic fact that those modes are part of the full game. A premium purchase makes sense only if its listed extras matter to you outside those modes.
Who would have benefited from Ultimate Plus?
FUT players planning a long season
Ultimate Plus concentrated its additional value in FUT: more FC Points, four more Premium Pass seasons and extra FUT rewards. A player who planned to play regularly through Seasons 2–5 could use more of the package than someone who only wanted launch access.

Plus was a time-limited product, so its strongest case applied before 31 August 2026. If you placed an eligible preorder, keep the original receipt and order date because EA tied some FC 26 ICON rewards to when the order was made. Do not assume a later Ultimate preorder carries the same reward set.

Buyers who dislike recurring in-game spending
The larger allowance does not automatically make Plus good value. Points are consumable virtual currency, while the Premium Passes matter only in seasons you play. If you would not otherwise buy points or follow FUT seasons, the additional allotment may remain unused.
A practical value test
Separate the two kinds of value before comparing a price. Ultimate Plus had a numerical advantage of 4,000 maximum FC Points and four extra Premium Pass seasons. That tells you what was added, but not what those additions were worth to a particular player.
- Use rate: Estimate how many FUT seasons you will actually play. A pass for a season you skip has no practical value to you.
- Spending pattern: If you never purchase FC Points, a larger allocation may be less useful than a smaller bundle you can spend during Season 1.
- Mode mix: Career additions and an extra Evolution Slot may matter more to a mixed-mode player than a Hall of FUT pick.
- Timing: Early access was identical in duration, so Plus did not provide an extra launch-day advantage over Ultimate.
This approach avoids treating 10,000 points as a guaranteed cash discount. EA describes both figures as maximum allocations delivered over time, and the points cannot be exchanged for a refund of the game purchase.
Preorder reward timing can change your bundle
The 31 August cutoff affects more than whether Plus was available. EA says Ultimate preorders made by that date included the full early-bird package, while later Ultimate preorders used different FC 26 ICON-reward terms. Two customers who bought the same named edition can therefore have different bonus records if their order dates differ.
When checking an old receipt, record the order date, platform, territory and the exact item list. A retailer’s current product title may be reused after launch, but it cannot by itself prove which ICON reward or monthly entitlement was attached to your original order. If the account page and receipt disagree, ask the seller or EA support to confirm the entitlement before assuming that a missing item is a delivery failure.
Common buying mistakes
- Paying for expired early access: Both premium editions advertised access from 18 September 2026. That benefit cannot be used after the launch window.
- Assuming Plus is an upgrade: EA did not provide a conversion path from Ultimate to Ultimate Plus. Buying Ultimate now does not reserve a later Plus upgrade.
- Expecting all points immediately: The schedule uses a first grant followed by monthly drops, and the full amount requires the stated distribution steps.
- Ignoring hardware limits: The Grounds and Clubs are unavailable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, regardless of the premium label.
- Comparing another country’s price: EA prices vary by country and storefront. A foreign listing is not a reliable estimate of your checkout total.
- Confusing a physical disc with premium entitlements: A standard-edition disc is evidence of the full game, not proof that Ultimate or Ultimate Plus bonuses are included.
What both premium editions do not change
- The core game: EA says all editions include the full game, so neither premium tier is a separate gameplay engine or a different set of basic modes.
- Platform limitations: Buying a premium edition does not make The Grounds available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
- Regional pricing: EA does not publish one universal price for every country and storefront. Check the local store listing at checkout.
- Automatic upgrades: There is no supported path from Ultimate to Ultimate Plus or from Plus to another premium tier.
Buying checklist for a new purchaser
- Identify your platform. Select the exact PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Nintendo storefront you use. Confirm whether the desired edition is listed there.
- Decide whether early access still has value. The advertised premium early-access window began on 18 September 2026; after launch it is a historical benefit.
- List the modes you actually play. FUT makes the Points and Premium Pass comparison relevant. Career may make the Career additions useful. Kick-Off and Seasons alone generally do not justify paying for FUT currency.
- Read the entitlement panel, not only the product name. Look for the Premium Pass seasons, FC Points schedule, preorder reward wording and any platform-specific note.
- Check the claim dates. If the listing promises monthly Points, note the initial-login requirement and the applicable 2027 deadlines before assuming the full maximum is guaranteed.
- Keep proof of purchase. The order date can affect FC 26 ICON rewards, especially for Ultimate preorders around the 31 August cutoff.
- Compare the local price. Prices and stock vary by country and storefront, so a figure seen in another market is not a reliable guide to your cost.
FC 27 Lite as a lower-risk trial
EA says FC 27 Lite is a free limited preview available at launch with a narrower selection of modes. It can answer a basic question—whether the game runs on your hardware and whether its feel suits you—without buying a premium edition. It is not the full FC 27 package and should not be treated as an alternative way to receive Ultimate or Ultimate Plus entitlements.

How large is the full game?
In its launch announcement, EA reported more than 21,000 players, over 800 clubs and national teams, 140 stadiums, more than 35 leagues and over 300 global football partners. These are EA’s figures, not independent measurements. EA Sports FC general manager Nick Wlodyka described it as “the biggest football experience we’ve ever delivered, with more ways for every fan to find their place in The World’s Game.” That is an executive characterization rather than an independent assessment.

The launch announcement also confirms that FC 27 was available by the time of publication. For the most accurate entitlement information, consult the EA Help pre-order article alongside the official launch announcement. Storefront pages can change after launch, and regional listings may not show every platform or reward in the same way.

Can I still buy EA FC 27 Ultimate Plus?
