Those fixes do not establish a blanket XP nerf for every Portal lobby. Rewards depend on whether an experience is Verified or Custom, and EA’s current in-game description is the best guide to what a particular experience awards.
What EA changed in Portal
EA’s Battlefield 6 Game Update 1.2.1.0 notes identify two targeted fixes in Portal:
- An exploit that let players farm excessive XP by repeatedly destroying AI-spawned vehicles.
- An issue that let players create AFK farming experiences that bypassed intended progression limits.
These are specific anti-farming fixes. The notes do not say that EA reduced XP across all Portal experiences or made all bot play ineligible for progression.
Verified and Custom experiences award progression differently
Portal’s reward system distinguishes Verified Community Experiences from Custom Community Experiences. EA’s Battlefield 6 FAQ says Verified experiences award the same categories of EXP available in official modes, including challenge, badge and accolade progression. Custom experiences—those that depart from Battlefield’s core gameplay—award Time Played EXP to players who stay until the match ends.

EA’s Portal 101 guide, published October 10, 2025, gives a more detailed breakdown. It says Verified experiences grant Career XP for match completion and a win bonus, Hardware XP, and Mission and Assignment progress at the same amounts as a normal Multiplayer match. For Custom experiences, the guide says players do not receive standard Career XP, Hardware XP, and Mission and Assignment progress rates; instead, they receive a Career XP match-completion award higher than the comparable award for finishing a Multiplayer match.

The FAQ and guide describe rewards at different levels of detail, so do not assume every experience awards every category in the same way. EA says each Portal experience’s menu description communicates its available progression rewards; check that description before joining.

What EA said about bot XP—and when
In its November 12, 2025 community update, EA said bots had returned to Verified experiences on November 6. It said those bots awarded reduced XP while player XP remained at 100%, and that all challenges remained completable. EA also said the change did not affect PvE bots in Custom Portal experiences.
That is a dated statement, not confirmation of the live rules on October 8, 2026. XP systems can change between updates: EA’s Game Update 1.2.2.0 notes, for example, describe a new XP curve and corrections to XP rewards for certain daily missions. For a current match, use the reward information shown in the experience’s menu rather than treating an older bot-XP description as permanent.

Does bot farming violate EA’s rules?
EA’s Battlefield 6 rules prohibit abusing glitches or bugs and using game features in unintended ways to artificially stack scores, which EA calls stat padding. The rules page also says Battlefield 6 requires EA Javelin anticheat on PC.
Those rules do not establish the penalty for any particular Portal setup or account. Avoid exploiting bugs or creating experiences designed to bypass progression limits; do not assume that ordinary bot play is prohibited simply because EA fixed specific farming exploits.
