If those services are operating normally, restart the game and network equipment, then troubleshoot local connection quality.
Check whether FC 25 servers or your platform are down
EA’s EA server status page lists EA SPORTS FC 25 and supported platform services. Check the entry for your game and the service you play on—such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Steam. PlayStation players can also check Sony’s PlayStation Service Status.
Status pages can change, so a search for “FC 25 servers down” or an Ultimate Team connection error does not by itself confirm an outage. EA’s connection troubleshooting guidance also points players to @EASPORTSFC and the EA SPORTS FC Direct WhatsApp channel for outage updates.
If EA or platform services report an outage
Wait for the service to be restored and follow official updates; changing your router cannot bring back an unavailable EA or platform service. EA maintenance notices may identify affected games or platforms and give a time window. In a historical notice—not evidence of a current outage—EA community manager EA_Vendcera wrote, “During this time, you may be disconnected or unable to access online services.” When that maintenance was marked complete, EA advised players who still had trouble launching or connecting to fully restart the game.

If status looks normal, try these low-risk fixes
- Fully close and restart FC 25. Exit the game rather than leaving it suspended, then launch it again.
- Restart your router and modem. If they are separate devices, power them off and wait at least 30 seconds before turning them back on, as EA instructs.
- Reduce competing network use. Pause large downloads and HD or 4K streams, and ask others sharing the connection to do the same while you test.
EA notes that connecting to a different game data center than usual may be associated with connection trouble. If you have moved or are using a different network, that may help explain a changed match experience, but it does not establish that the servers are down.
Separate a connection error from poor match quality
“Connecting to Ultimate Team™ is not possible at the moment” can be caused by a server issue, according to EA. If the relevant status pages show services working, continue with local connection troubleshooting. If you can get online but matches feel inconsistent, use EA’s Connection Quality Report to review connection quality rather than treating every lag or instability problem as an outage.

Improve an unstable home connection
Try Ethernet first
When practical, connect your console or PC to the router with an Ethernet cable. EA says, “An Ethernet cable usually ensures a more stable connection.” It can help avoid local Wi-Fi interference, but it will not fix an EA or platform outage. Check that your device and router have compatible ports and that the cable reaches comfortably.
Choose Wi-Fi by distance and conditions
If wired play is not practical, compare the available Wi-Fi bands. A 2.4 GHz connection can reach farther; 5 GHz is generally faster and more stable at shorter range. Walls, distance, and the router and device’s supported bands affect the result, so test near your normal playing position.

Nearby networks can crowd Wi-Fi channels. For 2.4 GHz, EA identifies channels 1, 6, and 11 as non-overlapping choices. Router menus differ, and the best available setting depends on your equipment and local networks; check your router’s instructions before changing channels.

If the Connection Quality Report often shows Okay or Poor after the basic steps, EA suggests checking for router firmware updates, testing without a VPN, and using Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize FC traffic if your router supports it. These are optional, device-specific changes rather than universal fixes. Follow the router maker’s guidance, and contact EA Support if the problem persists.
