The ten names below are ranked by potential ceiling—not by age or growth gap—so this is a mix of elite stars and prospects, not a wonderkids-only list. Values are a third-party database snapshot; a high POT is a ceiling, not a guarantee that a player will reach it in your save.
FC 26’s 10 highest-potential players in this snapshot
The table uses FCCareer’s archived FC 26 ranking, which covers 18,405 players. OVR is the listed current rating, POT is the listed potential, and the gap is POT minus OVR. The archive is undated, so treat these as reference values rather than a claim about every current squad update.

How to read OVR, POT and the growth gap
Potential is a ceiling, not a promised final rating
POT is useful for identifying a player’s listed Career Mode ceiling. It does not establish that a particular save will develop that player to the number shown. Treat it as a shortlist signal, then judge the player in your own squad and save.

A high ceiling and a large development gap are different
Yamal combines the table’s highest ceiling with a six-point gap between OVR and POT. Salah, by contrast, has a listed OVR of 91 and POT of 91, leaving no gap in this snapshot. A high potential value can therefore describe an already-established star as well as a developing prospect; the gap better indicates how much rating room the listed values imply.
Choose by squad need, not POT alone
- Need an immediate contributor? These players already carry high listed OVRs, so their appeal is not limited to future growth.
- Want more listed headroom? Compare the gap as well as POT, while remembering that it does not guarantee progression.
- Building a youth-focused side? This overall ranking is not an age-filtered wonderkids list. Mohamed Salah, for example, was 33 in the archive snapshot.
If you mean wonderkids, use an age cutoff
“Highest potential” and “best wonderkids” are not interchangeable searches. Operation Sports defines its FC 26 prospects roundup as players aged 21 or younger and uses a September 2026 database snapshot; Yamal is also first there at 89 OVR and 95 POT. Its age rule makes that list a better starting point for a youth-only shortlist than the overall ranking above.

Older coverage should not be blended into that September 2026 list without labeling its date. FourFourTwo’s 2025 guide reported unusually large OVR-to-potential growth for Igor Tyjon (57/82) and Lawrence Wong (56/81), and listed Cardoso Varela at 68/88 and Mikey Moore at 74/88. Those are earlier-snapshot values, not confirmed September 2026 ratings.
