Choose FC 26. Its design gives you direct responsibility for movement, passing, shooting and defending. Career lets you combine that match control with a longer-term club story, so you do not have to give up progression simply because you want to play the fixtures.
You want to build a club around a philosophy
Choose FM26. You can define a tactical identity, recruit players who fit it, develop a squad and make trade-offs when injuries, finances or fixture congestion disrupt the plan. The satisfaction comes from seeing a coherent system work over time rather than from executing one isolated move.
You mainly play online with friends
FC 26 is the clearer fit when the group wants to be on the pitch together. Clubs is explicitly part of FC 26’s mode offering, and EA positions the Competitive preset for Clubs and Ultimate Team. Football Manager can support shared managerial interests, but it is not designed around the same immediate, controller-based multiplayer session.
You prefer research, spreadsheets and long saves
