The story suggested the game might arrive imminently, but Bethesda had not announced it at the time. Two days later, Bethesda officially made the remaster available.
What were the Oblivion Remastered references?
Insider Gaming’s April 20, 2025 article said a Reddit user named “ArrowToTheKnee23” had posted images of cached Virtuos web pages that pointed to the remaster. The report treated the references as a sign that a release was close. The cached pages and original Reddit post have not been independently authenticated here, so the discovery is best understood as what Insider Gaming reported, not as independently confirmed evidence of Virtuos’s site content.
The article’s headline question was whether the game would be released “tomorrow.” That was speculation based on the reported references, not an official release date: Bethesda had not formally announced the remaster when the story was published.
Did Bethesda announce Oblivion Remastered after the report?
Yes. On April 22, 2025, Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was available. At launch, Bethesda listed Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and PC as platforms. The announcement came two days after Insider Gaming’s report, making the article’s imminent-release reading notably timely, although the report itself was not an official confirmation.

Bethesda Game Studios described the project as a remaster rather than a remake. In its April 22 launch message, the studio said: “We never wanted to remake it – but remaster it – where the original game was there as you remember playing it, but seen through today’s technology.”
