The EarFun Wave Pro is a persuasive budget over-ear headphone for commuting and travel: its headline strengths are very long claimed battery life, multipoint Bluetooth, LDAC support for compatible Android phones, an equalizer app and a supplied 3.5 mm cable. Independent reviews find the active noise cancellation useful but below the best in the class, while the lack of any water-resistance rating limits use around sweat and rain. It is best understood as a feature-rich, endurance-focused model rather than a specialist noise-blocking or workout headphone.
Verdict at a glance
Choose the Wave Pro if you want one inexpensive headset for flights, trains, office listening and ordinary music at home, and you value battery endurance and connection flexibility more than benchmark-leading ANC. EarFun claims up to 80 hours with ANC disabled and up to 55 hours with ANC enabled; those are laboratory-style manufacturer figures that vary with volume and content, not a promise that every listener will reach them.

- Best fit: commuters, travelers and desk listeners who want long runtime, two-device multipoint and app-based tuning.
- Most important compromise: reviewers describe the ANC as effective enough for everyday low-frequency noise, but not class-leading.
- Platform warning: LDAC requires Android 8.0 or later through the EarFun app and does not work with iOS.
- Use-with-care warning: there is no stated IP or water-resistance rating.
- Independent context: SoundGuys rated it 7.4/10 overall, with 8.0/10 for noise cancelling, 9.9/10 for battery and 9.0/10 for connectivity in its April 2024 review.
That combination makes the Wave Pro easier to recommend as an everyday travel headset than as a gym model or a premium ANC replacement.

The most useful performance evidence comes from published reviews, especially SoundGuys’ measurements and TechRadar’s hands-on buying-guide assessment.
Specifications and included functions
| Specification or function | Wave Pro information | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Battery life | Up to 80 hours with ANC off; up to 55 hours with ANC on | EarFun claim; volume and audio content affect runtime |
| Battery capacity | 800 mAh | Listed by EarFun and in the January 15, 2024 manual |
| Charging time | About two hours | EarFun product information and manual |
| ANC system | Hybrid QuietSmart 2.0, up to 45 dB | Manufacturer description, not an independent noise-reduction result |
| Drivers | 40 mm DLC composite | Manufacturer specification |
| Stated frequency response | Up to 40 kHz | Manufacturer specification |
| Microphones | Five | Manufacturer specification for calls and noise control |
| Bluetooth multipoint | Two devices | EarFun feature description |
| Game mode latency | Below 55 ms | Manufacturer claim |
| Wired connection | 3.5 mm | EarFun says a cable is included |
| Maximum working range | 15 m | Manual specifies an unobstructed distance; walls and interference reduce it |
| Weight | 268 g in the specification section | EarFun promotional copy elsewhere says 250 g; the manual and TechRadar also list 268 g |
The weight discrepancy is worth recording rather than smoothing over. For planning a bag or comparing fit, use 268 g because it appears in the formal specification, the manual excerpt and TechRadar’s current guide. EarFun’s separate 250 g promotional statement means the company’s page is internally inconsistent.
Battery life, charging and range
What the 80-hour figure means
EarFun’s headline figure is “up to” 80 hours with ANC off. Enabling ANC lowers the claim to up to 55 hours. The company explicitly says volume and audio content change results, so treat both numbers as a ceiling under favorable playback conditions. Heavy use at high volume, frequent calls, Bluetooth retransmissions or codec overhead can produce a shorter interval.
Recommended Free Tools
SoundGuys’ 9.9/10 battery score in April 2024 reflects how unusually strong the endurance was in its review context, but that editorial score is not a guarantee of a specific number of hours for your phone or listening habits. The practical benefit is fewer charging interruptions during a week of commuting or a long trip.
Charging expectations
The 800 mAh battery and approximately two-hour charge time are listed both on EarFun’s product material and in the January 15, 2024 manual. The available EarFun product information and manual do not state a particular quick-charge bonus, charging connector behavior or battery percentage displayed by the app, so do not assume a short top-up provides a fixed number of hours.
Bluetooth range
EarFun and the manual give a maximum working range of 15 m without obstacles. That is an unobstructed reference distance, not a promise through multiple rooms or dense radio interference. If a connection drops before 15 m, test with the phone in the same room, remove intervening walls and pause nearby wireless activity before concluding that the headset is defective.
ANC and sound quality in published testing
Noise cancellation
EarFun advertises hybrid QuietSmart 2.0 ANC rated up to 45 dB. The number describes the manufacturer’s system specification; it should not be read as uniform attenuation across every frequency. SoundGuys published frequency-specific measurements and gave the model an 8.0/10 noise-cancellation score. Its conclusion places the ANC in the useful-for-travel category, not at the level of the strongest premium systems. TechRadar likewise treats the Wave Pro as a capable budget option rather than a class leader.

For a train, aircraft cabin or office HVAC, the technology should help reduce steady low-frequency sound while music or podcasts are playing. Human voices, sudden impacts and irregular high-frequency noises are harder for any ANC system to suppress, and the published scores do not support promising silence. Use the passive seal of the earcups and an appropriate volume level alongside ANC rather than relying on the 45 dB label alone.
Sound and equalization
The 40 mm DLC composite drivers and the stated response extending to 40 kHz are EarFun specifications. SoundGuys and TechRadar both describe the overall sound and value positively for the price, but neither source establishes a universal preferred tuning for every genre. The companion app’s EQ lets you adjust the presentation to your own recordings, and that flexibility is more consequential than a printed upper-frequency limit for most listeners.
Listening without ANC
Turning ANC off gives the longest claimed battery life and may be preferable in a quiet room. Because the Wave Pro also offers a 3.5 mm input, you can continue listening from a source with a headphone output or preserve battery for situations where Bluetooth is more convenient. The supplied cable means a separate cable is not a requirement for basic wired use.
Codecs, multipoint and the app
LDAC has a strict platform boundary
EarFun says LDAC works with Android 8.0 or later through its app and is not compatible with iOS. Android users may also need to activate LDAC in the phone’s Bluetooth or developer settings. EarFun recommends a low-interference environment and keeping the phone within 2 m (6.6 ft) if playback interrupts, because the higher-bitrate mode can be less tolerant of radio congestion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat makes LDAC a conditional feature, not a universal advantage. If you use an iOS device, the headset will use another supported Bluetooth mode; the cited specifications do not identify a separate iOS lossless path. If an Android connection stutters after LDAC is enabled, first move the phone closer, reduce nearby interference or switch to a more stable codec before blaming the headphones.
Two-device multipoint
Multipoint lets the Wave Pro maintain connections with two devices. In a typical workday, that can mean a phone and a laptop remain paired so a call can interrupt music from the other source. Device hand-off behavior depends on the operating systems and which device claims audio, so test the sequence you rely on rather than assuming every application will switch identically.
EarFun app controls
The app provides EQ and control customization. App menus can change with software versions, but the intended workflow is consistent: pair the headphones, open the Wave Pro entry, choose an EQ profile or adjust bands, and assign available control actions. The app is also the route EarFun identifies for activating LDAC on compatible Android devices.

Game mode and wired listening
EarFun states latency below 55 ms in game mode. That is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent end-to-end measurement, so treat it as a setting intended to reduce delay, not proof that every game, phone or video app will be perfectly synchronized. The 3.5 mm connection avoids Bluetooth codec delay when the source supports analog output, although the cited product information does not establish whether every ANC or EQ function remains active in wired mode.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Comfort, build and physical controls
SoundGuys scored comfort and fit 8.0/10, and TechRadar praises the build for the price. At 268 g, the Wave Pro is not an ultra-light headset; clamp force, head shape and pad depth will determine whether that weight feels comfortable over several hours. A sensible fitting process is to extend both arms evenly, center the pads around your ears and make small adjustments before tightening the headband.
TechRadar identifies the physical controls as fiddly and notes that shutdown can be slow. SoundGuys lists no touch controls and no auto play/pause. Those omissions are not defects if you prefer physical buttons, but they change the daily routine: pause manually before removing the headset, and allow extra time for the power-off sequence instead of assuming it has already disconnected.
Calls and microphone expectations
EarFun specifies five microphones for calls and noise control. Microphone count alone does not establish speech quality in wind, traffic or a crowded room, and the published reviews contain no independent voice-recording score. For important meetings, make a short test call in the location where you will work; if the other party reports pumping, muffled speech or background noise, move closer to the phone or use a quieter environment.
How to set up the Wave Pro
- Charge before a long trip. Allow roughly two hours for a full charge according to EarFun’s product information and manual.
- Pair the first device. Put the headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode, select the Wave Pro in the phone or computer’s Bluetooth menu, and complete the connection.
- Install the EarFun app if you need customization. Use it for EQ, control assignments and supported codec settings rather than relying only on the operating system’s generic Bluetooth panel.
- Enable multipoint when required. Add the second device through the app or the headset’s documented pairing process, then place a test call and resume audio to confirm the hand-off behavior your work setup needs.
- Configure LDAC only on compatible Android hardware. Android 8.0 or later is required; iOS is not compatible. Activate the option on the phone if necessary, then test playback in a low-interference area.
- Choose ANC or transparency behavior for the trip. Verify the selected mode with the physical controls before boarding or starting work, because TechRadar found the ANC control fiddly.
- Keep the cable available. The included 3.5 mm cable provides a wired fallback for sources with an analog headphone output.
Troubleshooting connection and playback
“Why is the connection not stable and cuts out intermittently?”
Start with distance and interference. The manual’s 15 m figure assumes no obstacles, and EarFun specifically recommends a low-interference environment for LDAC. Keep the phone within 2 m while testing LDAC, turn off LDAC temporarily to compare stability, and retry with the headset and source in the same room. If multipoint is active, disconnect the second device briefly to determine whether another device is requesting the audio session.
“What is the range of Bluetooth headphones?”
For this model, the published maximum is 15 m without obstacles. Walls, people, metal structures and competing wireless signals can shorten it substantially. A stable connection at a shorter indoor distance is normal if the environment is crowded.
Audio works but the app does not show the headset
Confirm that the phone’s Bluetooth connection is complete, then reopen the EarFun app and select the Wave Pro entry. If the app still cannot manage EQ or codec settings, toggle Bluetooth, restart the app and pair again. The available controls can vary by app version; the core Bluetooth connection can still function without app customization.

The headset does not pause when removed
SoundGuys lists no auto play/pause, so removal is not expected to stop playback automatically. Pause from the source or use the assigned physical control before taking the headset off.
Where the Wave Pro fits—and where it does not
Good use cases
- Commuting and flights: the long claimed runtime, over-ear seal and useful ANC address the most common travel needs.
- Mixed phone-and-computer work: two-device multipoint reduces repeated pairing.
- Android streaming: compatible Android 8.0-or-newer phones can use LDAC if the environment is quiet enough for stable playback.
- Flexible home listening: app EQ, Bluetooth and the included 3.5 mm cable cover several source types.
Situations that need caution
- Exercise, rain and humid commutes: TechRadar and SoundGuys both note that no IP or water-resistance rating is provided. Avoid treating the headset as sweatproof or weatherproof.
- Users demanding the strongest possible ANC: published reviews place cancellation below class-leading models.
- Workflows built around automatic behavior: there is no auto play/pause, shutdown is described as slow, and the controls can feel fiddly.
- USB audio setups: SoundGuys lists no USB audio support, so the 3.5 mm cable is the relevant wired option described here.
How to compare it with another headphone
A fair alternative comparison should use the same evidence for each model rather than assuming a higher price or a bigger codec list means better performance. Check these points side by side:

| Decision factor | Wave Pro evidence | Question to ask of an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| ANC | SoundGuys 8.0/10; EarFun claims hybrid ANC up to 45 dB | Was noise reduction measured under comparable conditions, and at which frequencies? |
| Battery with ANC enabled | EarFun claims up to 55 hours | Is the figure measured with ANC on, and is it a manufacturer claim or an independent result? |
| Codec compatibility | LDAC on Android 8.0 or later; not compatible with iOS | Does the codec work on your actual phone and remain stable in your usual environment? |
| Connections | Two-device multipoint and 3.5 mm wired input | Does it support the number of devices and wired functions you need? |
| Fit | 268 g listed by EarFun, the manual and TechRadar; SoundGuys comfort score 8.0/10 | How does the weight, clamp and pad shape compare on your head? |
| Water protection | No IP or water-resistance rating stated | Is there a published rating suitable for sweat or rain? |
| Controls | Physical controls; no touch controls or auto play/pause listed by SoundGuys | Do you prefer buttons, touch surfaces or wear detection? |

Do not declare a category winner from these categories alone. ANC measurements, battery test methods, fit and regional pricing must be comparable before a numerical advantage means much.
Buying and ownership checks
Verify that the listing is specifically for the EarFun Wave Pro, not a similarly named model, and check the seller, regional warranty and return terms. Prices and stock change by market; the supplied evidence does not establish a single current worldwide price. Because the 3.5 mm cable is described as included, it should not be treated as a necessary extra purchase.
Before relying on it for a trip, test Bluetooth range in your own environment, try the ANC controls with music playing, confirm multipoint switching between your actual devices and make a short call. Those checks reveal the practical issues—control feel, codec stability and fit—that a specification sheet cannot settle.
Bottom line
The EarFun Wave Pro earns consideration by combining endurance, multipoint, app tuning, a wired fallback and Android LDAC support in a budget over-ear design. Its sensible role is an all-purpose commuter and travel headphone for buyers who can accept ANC that is good rather than best-in-class and who will keep it away from sweat and rain. If those boundaries match your routine, the feature set is unusually complete for the category; if your priority is maximum noise suppression, rugged outdoor use or automatic wear detection, look for those specific capabilities elsewhere.
