Easy Install Logitech Mouse Drivers for Windows 10

Connect your Logitech mouse or receiver and Windows 10 will usually install the native HID driver automatically. This guide covers Device Manager updates, USB chipset troubleshooting, Options+, G HUB and legacy software.

Most Logitech mice do not need a separate driver download for ordinary movement and clicking. Windows 10 includes a native Human Interface Device (HID) driver: connect the mouse or its USB receiver, wait for Windows to detect it, and confirm it in Device Manager. Install Logitech software only when you need programmable buttons, gestures, profiles, Flow, firmware features, or gaming controls.

What Windows 10 installs automatically

Logitech mice and keyboards identify as Human Interface Devices. Logitech’s Windows compatibility guidance says HID drivers are native to modern Windows versions, including Windows 10, so basic pointing, clicking, scrolling and cursor movement normally work without Logitech software.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

The automatic driver is enough for a basic wired USB mouse, a mouse using a Logitech USB receiver, and many Bluetooth models. Windows may show the device as an HID-compliant mouse rather than displaying its retail name. That generic label is normal when the native driver is handling the essential functions.

A separate Logitech application adds features above that basic layer. Depending on the exact model, those features can include button remapping, application-specific profiles, gestures, Flow between computers, lighting controls, sensitivity settings, macros or gaming configuration. Support differs by model, so use the mouse’s exact Logitech support page rather than assuming that every Logitech utility works with every mouse.

Install a Logitech mouse on Windows 10

1. Identify the connection and model

  • Wired USB: find the model name printed on the mouse, cable label or original packaging.
  • USB receiver: locate the small receiver, remove it from any storage slot in the mouse and note whether it is a standard receiver or a model-specific wireless adapter.
  • Bluetooth: record the model and make sure the computer has Bluetooth enabled.

The model number matters when you choose Logitech software. Similar-looking mice can use different applications, and older products may not appear in the current supported-device list.

2. Connect the mouse directly

  1. For a wired mouse, plug the USB cable directly into the computer.
  2. For a wireless mouse, insert its receiver directly into a USB port, not into an unpowered hub. If the receiver was previously connected to another port, move it back and allow Windows a few seconds to detect it.
  3. For a Bluetooth mouse, turn it on, open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, select Add Bluetooth or other device, choose Bluetooth, and select the mouse when it appears.
  4. Check the batteries or connect the charging cable. A flat battery can look like a missing driver.

Windows should install its HID driver automatically. Test movement, the left and right buttons and the scroll wheel before installing additional software.

3. Confirm detection in Device Manager

  1. Right-click the Windows flag on the taskbar.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand Mice. Also expand Human Interface Devices if the mouse is not listed by its model name.
  4. Look for the model name or HID-compliant mouse.

A working mouse can appear under the generic HID name. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, Windows has detected a problem with the device or a related component and you should continue with the update and connection checks below.

4. Update the detected driver manually

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the mouse entry.
  2. Select Update driver.
  3. Choose Search automatically for drivers and let Windows check its available driver store and update service.
  4. Restart Windows if it requests a restart, then test the mouse again.

If the entry remains a generic HID device or still has a warning icon, Logitech advises checking the computer’s USB chipset drivers. USB chipset software controls the ports to which a wired mouse or receiver is attached; updating only the mouse entry may not resolve a port-level problem. Obtain chipset updates from the computer or motherboard manufacturer for the exact Windows 10 system, then restart and check Device Manager again.

Choose Logitech software by mouse type

Mouse category Software to check first What it can add Important qualification
Supported productivity mouse Logi Options+ Button customization, application-specific settings, gestures and Flow where the model supports them Capabilities vary by model; verify the exact device in Logitech’s supported-device matrix
Logitech G gaming mouse Logitech G HUB Gaming profiles and model-specific controls Windows 10 build 1803 or older requires G HUB version 2023.1 according to Logitech’s guidance
Older or legacy mouse The exact model’s Logitech Downloads page Only the functions listed for that model SetPoint, Unifying Software, Connection Utility, Preference Manager, Control Center and Firmware Update Tool are marked as no longer maintained on Logitech support pages

Install Logi Options+

  1. Open the Logitech support page for the exact mouse model and select its Downloads tab.
  2. Confirm that the listed application is Logi Options+ and that Windows 10 is supported.
  3. Download the current Windows installer offered for that model, run it, and follow the setup prompts.
  4. Open Options+ after installation and connect or select the mouse when prompted.
  5. Use the device page to assign supported buttons, gestures or application-specific actions. If a control is absent, the model may not provide that function even though Options+ is installed.

Logitech’s Options page lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 support for Options+ and records software version 10.26.14 with an update date of January 12, 2026. The version shown to you can change as Logitech publishes newer releases, so the model’s Downloads page remains the authoritative place to obtain the installer.

Install Logitech G HUB for a gaming mouse

  1. Check the model’s Logitech support page and open Downloads.
  2. Download G HUB for Windows and run the installer.
  3. Launch G HUB, allow it to detect the mouse, and configure sensitivity, buttons, profiles or other controls exposed for that model.
  4. Restart the computer if the installer asks you to do so.

Check the Windows build before troubleshooting an installation that refuses to complete. Open Settings > System > About and read Windows specifications. Logitech states that Windows 10 version 1803, OS build 17134, or an earlier build requires G HUB version 2023.1. A current G HUB release may therefore be unsuitable for an older Windows installation; use the version Logitech specifies for that build or update Windows through your normal supported update path.

When the mouse is detected but features are missing

Movement works, but extra buttons do nothing

This usually means the native HID driver is functioning and the model-specific customization layer is absent. Confirm the exact model, install the supported Options+ or G HUB release, and check whether the button is programmable on that model. A generic HID entry in Device Manager does not by itself indicate a failure.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Gestures, profiles or Flow are unavailable

Open the supported-device matrix for Options+ and compare the exact model with the feature you want. Logitech exposes capabilities by device, so installing the application cannot add a function that the mouse firmware and model do not support.

The installer cannot find the mouse

  • For a receiver mouse, unplug the receiver, wait a few seconds, and connect it directly to another USB port.
  • For a wired model, test another USB port and inspect the cable for damage.
  • For a Bluetooth model, turn the mouse off and on, remove its old Bluetooth pairing in Windows, then pair it again through Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  • Check batteries or charging status before repeating software setup.
  • Close the Logitech application, restart Windows, and run the installer again from the exact model’s Downloads page.

Fix a Logitech mouse that Windows 10 does not detect

Check the physical connection first

  1. Disconnect the receiver or cable.
  2. Connect it directly to a different USB port on the computer, avoiding an unpowered hub or dock while testing.
  3. Try the mouse on another computer if one is available. If it fails there too, the mouse, receiver, battery or cable may be the fault rather than Windows 10.
  4. For a wireless model, verify the power switch and replace or recharge the battery.

Inspect both Device Manager categories

Open Device Manager and check Mice and Human Interface Devices. The device may be listed under its retail name, as HID-compliant mouse, or with a warning icon. Right-click an entry and choose Properties to read its status message. A warning icon means you should update the entry and investigate the computer’s USB chipset drivers rather than repeatedly reinstalling Logitech’s customization software.

Refresh the device entry

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the affected mouse or HID entry and select Uninstall device only when Windows identifies the correct entry and you have another way to control the computer.
  2. Disconnect the mouse or receiver, restart Windows, and reconnect it after the desktop loads.
  3. Return to Device Manager and use Action > Scan for hardware changes if Windows does not rediscover it automatically.

Do not remove unrelated HID entries at random: keyboards, touchpads and other input devices can use the same category.

Update USB chipset drivers when HID shows an error

If the mouse appears as a generic HID device with a yellow exclamation mark, or if several USB devices fail on the same computer, install the USB chipset drivers supplied for the computer or motherboard model. Logitech’s guidance specifically points to USB chipset updates for this scenario. After installation, restart Windows, reconnect the mouse directly, and check Device Manager for a normal status.

Separate a driver problem from a software problem

  • No movement or clicks: concentrate on power, cable, receiver, Bluetooth pairing, USB ports and Device Manager.
  • Movement works but customization is absent: install the model’s supported Options+ or G HUB application.
  • Only one application ignores custom buttons: check the application-specific profile in Options+ or G HUB and test another application.
  • Only an older Windows installation fails to install G HUB: check the build in Settings > System > About; build 17134 (version 1803) or older needs G HUB 2023.1 under Logitech’s published guidance.

Legacy Logitech utilities: when not to use them

Search results can surface older Logitech utilities even when a current replacement exists. Logitech support pages now direct owners of supported devices toward Logi Options+ and identify SetPoint, Unifying Software, Connection Utility, Preference Manager, Control Center and the Firmware Update Tool as no longer maintained. Do not install an old utility merely because its name resembles your mouse’s connection technology. Start with the exact model page and use the application Logitech lists there.

Windows 10 compatibility and replacement option

Logitech’s Windows 10 compatibility table lists the Logitech B100 Optical USB Mouse as compatible. It is a straightforward wired replacement when an existing mouse is dead, its receiver is missing, or troubleshooting shows a hardware fault. Check the current retailer listing, stock and specifications before buying because availability can change.

The B100’s compatibility listing confirms Windows 10 support, but it does not turn every Logitech mouse into a plug-and-play replacement for every feature. If you need wireless operation, programmable buttons, gestures or gaming controls, compare those requirements with the replacement model’s own support page.

A quick decision guide

Your situation Best next action
Basic wired mouse works after plugging it in Keep the native Windows HID driver; no Logitech download is required
Receiver mouse moves the pointer but is unreliable Reconnect the receiver directly, try another USB port, check power, then inspect Device Manager
Mouse appears in Device Manager with a warning icon Use Update driver and check the computer’s USB chipset drivers
Productivity mouse needs custom buttons or gestures Install Logi Options+ only if the exact model appears in its supported-device list
Logitech G gaming mouse needs profiles or gaming controls Install G HUB; use version 2023.1 for Windows 10 build 17134 or earlier as Logitech specifies
Mouse is not detected on multiple computers Check the cable, receiver and battery; replacement may be more practical than another driver installation

Final installation checklist

  • Identify the exact mouse model and connection type.
  • Connect a wired mouse or receiver directly to the computer, or pair the Bluetooth mouse in Windows Settings.
  • Confirm the device under Mice or Human Interface Devices in Device Manager.
  • Use Update driver when Windows detects the device but reports a problem.
  • Update USB chipset drivers when Logitech’s HID guidance points to a warning or port-level issue.
  • Use Logi Options+ for supported productivity mice and G HUB for Logitech G gaming mice.
  • Check the Windows build before installing G HUB on an older Windows 10 computer.
  • Avoid obsolete utilities unless Logitech’s exact model page explicitly requires one.
