Verdict: The EasySMX ESM-9110 is a usable, comfortable controller for cheap docked Nintendo Switch or PC play, with adjustable lighting, rumble and four rear buttons. Its Xbox-style labels, receiver-only wireless design, missing motion controls and lack of amiibo/NFC make it a poor choice as a general-purpose Switch controller. Buy one in 2026 only when it is complete, returnable and clearly inexpensive.
What the EasySMX ESM-9110 is
The ESM-9110 is an older multi-platform gamepad introduced around 2021. EasySMX describes it as a “Budget Performance Controller” for Nintendo Switch, Windows, PlayStation 3 and Android. It communicates wirelessly through a dedicated 2.4GHz USB receiver, not Bluetooth, and can also connect by USB-C. The official feature list includes four rear M1–M4 buttons, two vibration motors, illuminated controls, textured grips and plug-and-play operation.
That makes it closer to a budget, dock-oriented accessory than a Nintendo Pro Controller equivalent. The official product information is available at EasySMX.
Quick verdict
| Category | Assessment |
|---|---|
| Docked Switch | Works when the matching receiver is connected to the dock |
| Switch OLED | Worked in iMore’s hands-on testing |
| Switch Lite | Poor fit because it has no dock USB port; handheld use needs an adapter arrangement |
| Switch 2 | Compatibility not verified in the available evidence |
| Button layout | Confusing for Nintendo-trained muscle memory |
| Comfort | Generally comfortable, with textured grips; the 340g weight is substantial |
| Battery | Originally advertised at 8-plus hours; iMore reported up to 14 hours, but used batteries may be weaker |
| Rumble | Adjustable conventional vibration, not Nintendo HD Rumble |
| Motion controls | Not supported |
| Amiibo/NFC | Not supported |
| 2026 value | Only compelling at a low price with the receiver included |
Switch compatibility and the receiver limitation
EasySMX lists the ESM-9110 for Nintendo Switch, and iMore reported successful use with both the original Switch and Switch OLED. This is not Bluetooth-style wireless, however. The controller depends on its paired USB receiver remaining connected to the Switch dock. iMore found that wireless operation stopped when the receiver and console were separated.
#1 Best Overall
- ✅【Compatibility Note】 Compatible with Windows PC, Switch, Switch 2, Android, and iOS.
- 🎮【Next-Gen Wireless Controller with Charging Dock】 Comes with a magnetic smart charging dock featuring auto-reconnect, USB-C charging, and built-in 2.4G dongle storage. Always charged, always ready — a true “grab-and-play” design 8BitDo lacks.
- 🎯【TMR Anti-Drift Joysticks】 Advanced TMR sensors deliver higher resolution and precision than traditional Hall sensors, ensuring smoother motion, longer lifespan (5 M+ cycles), and zero-drift accuracy for FPS & racing titles.
- ⚡【Dual-Mode Hall / Tactile Triggers】 Switch freely between linear Hall triggers for racing and tactile micro-switch triggers for action/fighting games. One controller covers every genre.
- ⌨️【Full Mechanical Buttons & EasyPos D-pad】 1 mm actuation mechanical buttons and EasySMX’s EasyPos D-pad offer crisp, keyboard-like feedback and pinpoint 8-way precision — ideal for competitive play.
For a docked console, that arrangement is practical: the receiver occupies a dock USB port and the controller can be used from the sofa. It is inconvenient for an undocked Switch or Switch OLED and especially awkward for a Switch Lite. A Lite owner would need a suitable USB-OTG adapter, and the available evidence does not establish a reliable handheld setup. Do not buy the controller expecting ordinary Bluetooth pairing.
The available sources document original Switch and Switch OLED use, not Nintendo Switch 2. Treat Switch 2 support as unverified unless the seller provides a current, model-specific confirmation.
How to connect it to a docked Switch
- Turn on the Switch and place it in the dock.
- Insert the ESM-9110’s matching USB receiver directly into a dock USB port.
- Open System Settings on the Switch, then choose Controllers and Sensors.
- If the receiver is not recognized automatically, enable Pro Controller Wired Communication. Menu wording can vary with system software, so look for that setting by name.
- Turn on the ESM-9110 and press its Home button to test pairing and wake-up.
The user manual is available at manuals.plus. A receiver is essential; a controller sold without its matching dongle should be considered incomplete.
If the Switch does not recognize it
- Reconnect the receiver directly to a dock USB port rather than through an unpowered hub.
- Restart the Switch while it remains docked.
- Confirm that Pro Controller Wired Communication is enabled.
- Fully charge the controller, then test it over USB-C.
- Try the receiver on another listed platform to distinguish a receiver fault from a Switch setup problem.
- Use a reset pinhole only if the manual for your hardware revision documents one; procedures may differ between revisions.
The button-label problem is the central drawback
The ESM-9110 uses Xbox-style labels and a different A/B/X/Y arrangement from Nintendo controllers. The buttons work, but the physical markings do not match prompts shown by Switch games. Every session can require a moment of translation, and players with established Nintendo muscle memory may press the wrong button.

The A, B, X and Y positions also differ from the arrangement expected on a Nintendo controller. This is not a setting that can be corrected in the Switch menu; it is a permanent hardware-layout compromise. New Switch owners and households sharing controllers should weigh it heavily.
Design, controls and comfort
iMore described the grip as comfortable, and both the review and EasySMX mention textured handles that help prevent slipping. The controller weighs about 340g (approximately 12oz) and measures 16.2 × 11.4 × 7.2cm according to the manufacturer. That size can suit larger hands, while the weight may become tiring during long sessions for some players.
The face buttons are backlit, the right stick has an illuminated ring, and the USB-C charging port supports wired use. The four M1–M4 buttons sit on the rear and can duplicate actions assigned elsewhere on the controller, letting a middle or ring finger reach frequently used commands.
EasySMX calls M1–M4 programmable, but iMore found that the supplied instructions did not clearly explain remapping. Confirm the manual and hardware revision before buying specifically for macros, profiles or advanced reassignment. No reliable independent measurements of latency, stick dead zones, polling rate, durability or drift establish performance in those areas.

Battery life in a 2026 purchase
EasySMX advertises more than eight hours of play and about 2.5 hours to charge. iMore reported up to 14 hours in its review, while noting that Nintendo’s official Pro Controller is claimed to last up to 40 hours. These figures describe different conditions rather than a guaranteed result: brighter lights, stronger rumble, wireless conditions and battery age all change runtime.
Because the ESM-9110 is an older model, a second-hand 2026 unit may have substantially less capacity than a new one. Ask the seller to demonstrate charging and sustained play, or buy only with return protection. Treat the 600mAh figure and original runtime claims as historical specifications for used stock.

The lighting system offers five brightness levels for the face buttons and stick ring, including the option to turn it off. Vibration strength is adjustable, and iMore reported five rumble levels. These are useful personalization features, but they are not equivalents to the Switch Pro Controller’s HD Rumble.
iMore also reported that the controller could wake a Switch when used through the dock receiver. Auto-sleep and wired operation are listed in the product information, though behavior can depend on the controller’s charge and hardware revision.

PC, PS3 and Android use
EasySMX lists Windows, PS3, Android devices and Android TV alongside Switch. iMore also reported testing on PC, Android and PS3. The receiver-based connection can be useful for a desktop or older console, but feature behavior—especially rear-button programming, lighting controls and prompts—may not be identical across platforms. Confirm the required mode and receiver compatibility for the specific device before purchase.
Alternatives by need
For complete Nintendo features: Switch Pro Controller
Nintendo’s Switch Pro Controller has the expected Nintendo layout, motion controls, HD Rumble and built-in amiibo functionality. It does not provide M1–M4 rear buttons and is less budget-oriented, but it avoids the ESM-9110’s largest Switch compromises.
For a newer EasySMX option: D10
EasySMX’s D10 Gaming Controller is a substantially newer design. EasySMX lists 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and wired connectivity, Switch/Switch Lite/Switch OLED support, Switch motion control, programmable buttons, a 1,000mAh battery, a charging dock, RGB lighting and TMR sticks. It is a feature-heavy alternative rather than a like-for-like ultra-budget replacement.
For a different third-party controller
A newer Switch-specific pad may be preferable when correct Nintendo labels, handheld ergonomics or current support matter more than rear buttons and lighting. A compact model can also be a better choice for travel or smaller hands. Compare the exact listing for motion support, NFC, wireless method and Switch 2 claims rather than assuming that every third-party controller offers the same features.
Used-buying checklist
- Confirm that the exact matching USB receiver is included.
- Ask for proof that the battery charges and holds a usable charge.
- Test every face, shoulder, trigger, stick and M1–M4 button.
- Check for severe stick drift.
- Verify that lighting and rumble controls work.
- Confirm that the Switch wakes while docked.
- Prefer a seller offering returns and photographs of the actual controller and receiver.
- Do not pay a price close to a newer Switch-focused controller unless the extra features are specifically valuable to you.
Final recommendation
The ESM-9110 makes sense as a cheap docked Switch or PC controller when the receiver is present, the battery has been checked and the buyer accepts Xbox-style labels. Its rear buttons, adjustable lighting, rumble and comfortable textured grip are genuine advantages.
Most Switch owners should choose a newer controller with Nintendo-standard labels, motion controls and clearly supported connectivity instead. Avoid the ESM-9110 for primary Switch Lite use, amiibo-enabled games, motion-heavy games, Bluetooth requirements or any purchase where Switch 2 support is essential. Current stock and pricing were not reliably established from the official ESM-9110 page as of August 18, 2026, so evaluate the exact seller, condition and return policy rather than relying on historical prices.
