ASUS has announced a genuine TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 XT Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Special Edition, with ASUS stating that 1,000 cards will ship to selected retailers worldwide. It includes the standard PC edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but it is fundamentally a themed ASUS TUF RX 9070 XT rather than a faster Black Ops-specific GPU. In the released game, the RX 9070 XT delivers around 199 FPS at 1440p and 108 FPS at 4K in ComputerBase’s upscaled Quality test, while hardware ray tracing cuts performance sharply.
What ASUS actually announced
ASUS announced the ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 XT Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Special Edition on October 17, 2025, in collaboration with AMD and Call of Duty. The card had first been shown publicly at the Call of Duty NEXT event in Las Vegas on September 30, 2025. ASUS says the production run is limited to 1,000 units distributed through selected retailers worldwide, not an unrestricted global launch. Details appear in ASUS’ announcement.
Each unit includes a digital copy of the standard PC edition of Black Ops 7, redeemed through Battle.net according to the ASUS product page. It is not the more expensive Vault Edition.
What makes it different from a regular RX 9070 XT?
The special edition’s distinction is presentation and scarcity, not a new graphics processor. ASUS bases it on its TUF Gaming RX 9070 XT family, with AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture, 16GB of VRAM and FSR 4 support. The published materials describe the same TUF-style cooling approach: three 11-blade Axial-tech fans, a large fin array and 0dB fan-stop behavior during light workloads.

ASUS has not presented a unique GPU die, additional compute units or a special memory configuration for this SKU. Unless clock settings differ on a particular board, its game performance should be close to an equivalent TUF RX 9070 XT. The limited-edition branding alone does not increase shader performance, VRAM capacity or game compatibility.
Black Ops 7 performance in the released game
ComputerBase’s released-game testing used the Quality preset, FSR 4 Quality on Radeon RX 9000 cards and DLSS 4 Quality on GeForce cards, with 67% internal render resolution for those upscalers. The comparison therefore measures each platform using its respective reconstruction technology rather than native-resolution rendering. Results came from tests at 2560×1440, 3440×1440 and 3840×2160. See the full methodology and charts at ComputerBase’s final benchmark.
| Resolution | RX 9070 XT | RTX 5070 Ti | RX 9070 XT lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2560×1440 | 199.3 FPS | 147.2 FPS | About 35% |
| 3440×1440 | 162.2 FPS | 124.8 FPS | About 30% |
| 3840×2160 | 108.5 FPS | 87.1 FPS | About 25% |
Those figures make the card particularly attractive for high-refresh 1440p play: nearly 200 FPS in the tested configuration leaves substantial headroom for 165Hz, 240Hz or faster displays. Ultrawide 1440p remains comfortably above 160 FPS. At 4K, approximately 108 FPS makes high-refresh gaming realistic with the tested Quality and FSR 4 settings.
The Radeon lead applies to this Black Ops 7 test, its game build, settings and the FSR 4-versus-DLSS 4 comparison. It should not be read as a universal advantage in every game or workload.
Ray tracing changes the result
Hardware ray tracing is considerably more demanding. ComputerBase measured the RX 9070 XT at 49.8 FPS at 3440×1440 and 32.9 FPS at 4K with its ray-tracing configuration. No tested GPU reached 60 FPS at 4K in that test. ComputerBase also recorded a 68% WQHD performance reduction for the RX 9070 XT in its hardware-ray-tracing comparison.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
In practical terms, the card is an excellent upscaled-raster performer in this game, but 4K ray-traced play requires reduced settings, stronger upscaling and, where acceptable, frame generation. The limited-edition shell does not alter that trade-off.
Frame generation: high displayed FPS, different responsiveness
At 4K, ComputerBase recorded 108.5 FPS for the RX 9070 XT with FSR 4 Super Resolution and 179.9 FPS with FSR 4 frame generation. The RTX 5070 Ti reached 87.1 FPS with DLSS 4 Super Resolution, 132.6 FPS with standard frame generation and 224.4 FPS with DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation 4×.
Generated frames can make motion appear smoother, but displayed FPS is not the same as newly rendered frames. Input latency remains more closely tied to the underlying rendered rate, so frame generation should supplement a healthy base frame rate rather than conceal a weak one.

ComputerBase’s earlier beta analysis tested a training-mode section on “The Forge” with the Extreme preset, FSR 4 Quality for Radeon cards, DLSS 4 Quality for GeForce cards and a 1.5× upscaling factor. The RX 9070 XT scored 203.3 FPS at 1440p versus 155.1 FPS for the RTX 5070 Ti; at 3440×1440 it scored 168.1 versus 132.3 FPS, and at 4K 116.0 versus 97.5 FPS. Those results are documented at ComputerBase’s beta analysis.
The final-game numbers differ, as expected from a different build, scene and test procedure. Beta figures are useful historical context, not a performance guarantee for the released game.

Who should consider paying extra?
Collectors and themed-build owners
The card makes the most sense if the Chimera design, orange detailing and 1,000-unit run matter to you independently of frame rates. Scarcity may create collector interest, but it does not guarantee future resale profit.
Players choosing on performance per dollar
A standard RX 9070 XT is the rational comparison. If an ordinary model from a reputable retailer costs materially less, the special edition offers no demonstrated gaming-speed advantage. Deduct the value of the bundled game only if you genuinely plan to play it.
Buyers prioritizing ray tracing or software features
Compare the card with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 Series, including the RTX 5070 Ti, if ray tracing, DLSS features, creator applications or AI workloads are central to your decision. The RX 9070 XT leads the cited Black Ops 7 raster test, but that result does not settle every workload.
Availability, price and purchase checks
ASUS’ announcement establishes the 1,000-unit plan and selected-retailer distribution, but it does not establish a current price, inventory or a retailer list for every country. A live product page is not proof that stock is available in your region. Check the seller, country-specific warranty and return policy before paying a scarcity premium.
- Confirm that the listing is for the exact Black Ops 7 Special Edition, not a standard TUF RX 9070 XT.
- Verify GPU length, thickness and power-clearance requirements for your case and power supply.
- For used cards, ask whether the Battle.net game code has already been redeemed.
- Retain the invoice and confirm that warranty coverage applies in your country.
- Be cautious of marketplace prices that treat the 1,000-unit claim as guaranteed investment value.
The bundled game is subject to ASUS’ redemption terms; it is not an unconditional cash-equivalent giveaway.
The Bottom Line
The ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 9070 XT Black Ops 7 Edition is a real, 1,000-unit themed card with strong Black Ops 7 performance—about 199 FPS at 1440p and 108 FPS at 4K in ComputerBase’s FSR 4 Quality test. Buy it for the design, bundle and collecting appeal; choose a cheaper standard RX 9070 XT if you only want the performance.
