But a successful campaign is not the same as a delivered book: as of October 8, 2026, the project said printing had stopped after a dispute over the printer’s price, with October 16 named as the next available print window.
What the Kickstarter funded
The campaign was for The Electronic Gaming Monthly Compendium, presented as “A Definitive History of Video Games Through the Pages of the #1 Gaming Magazine.” It is a history book built around EGM—not a new issue of the magazine. Kickstarter lists the campaign as running from October 15 to November 14, 2024, a 29-day funding period. The campaign page reports $1,794,783 pledged by 21,947 backers toward a $35,000 goal.
Those are the campaign totals shown on Kickstarter, not a statement of net proceeds or proof that every pledge will result in a delivered reward.
When will the EGM Compendium book arrive?
As of October 8, 2026, there was no confirmed shipping date in the latest available production update. On October 1, the creators said production had stopped after the printer raised the agreed price despite having received an advance. They said they paid the additional amount and that the next available print window was October 16. That was a planned window, not confirmation that printing had begun or finished.

The update said the project would report progress as printing, binding, packaging, and fulfillment steps were completed. It did not say those steps had yet taken place. The campaign page was last updated October 1, 2026, making that update the latest production-status report available as of October 8.
What backers can do
The creators said backers who would rather not wait could request a refund through Kickstarter Messages. According to the October 1 update, refund requests would continue to be accepted until the books ship. The update, signed “Josh & Mollie,” also said: “We are in a position to fulfill the campaign and will work to get everyone their rewards as quickly as possible.”

A June 11, 2026 update discussed an anticipated 100-page EGM #265 issue and a planned shipping schedule. That timeline predates the October printer stoppage and new print window, so it should not be treated as the current delivery estimate. The project’s updates page contains the October status report and earlier timeline context.
