Eidos-Montréal was reportedly pitching a new Deus Ex game to external partners and publishers, but no publisher had committed as of April 4, 2025. That was the status reported by Mike Straw of Insider Gaming; it was not an announcement, a confirmed greenlight or proof that a game had entered development.
What was reported about the new Deus Ex pitch?
Insider Gaming reported that Eidos-Montréal had been regularly pitching a new Deus Ex game to external partners and publishers. The story, published April 4, 2025, was based on multiple sources close to the studio’s plans. It said no publisher had committed at that point.

The report did not identify a title or provide the proposed game’s story, platforms, budget, production schedule or release window. It therefore establishes that a pitch was reportedly being made—not what the game would be or whether it would be funded.
How this pitch differs from the canceled Deus Ex project
The pitch was described as separate from another Deus Ex game that had been in development for two years before Embracer canceled it in early 2024 during restructuring. The two projects should not be conflated: the earlier game was reportedly canceled, while the later story concerned a pitch seeking external backing.

Why was the pitch reportedly difficult to sell?
Insider Gaming attributed concerns to unnamed sources, not to identified publisher executives or an official company statement. Some prospective partners reportedly viewed Deus Ex as “too niche,” while publishers were said to be unwilling to assume the franchise’s financial risk at the time.
The proposed concept was also described by those sources as having “charm and novelty” but not meeting expectations or standards typically associated with the Deus Ex brand. These are second-hand characterizations, not a verified assessment of the pitch or a definitive explanation for the lack of commitment.

Is the new Deus Ex game confirmed or in development now?
The April 2025 report does not establish whether any publisher later committed, whether Eidos-Montréal revised the pitch or whether the project entered development. Insider Gaming said it had contacted the studio before publication and received no response by then. That non-response is not confirmation either way.
As of October 8, 2026, the cited report remains a dated account of the pitch’s reported status in April 2025; it cannot by itself verify the project’s current status. No confirmed title, platform or release date is established in that account.
