elastique.dll is a genuine FL Studio component used for audio time-stretching and pitch-shifting. If Windows reports that elastique.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the FL Studio installation that owns the file instead of copying a replacement into System32.
FL Studio uses Elastique algorithms in the Audio Editor, Sampler Channels, and Slicer. Image-Line’s Windows file inventory also lists elastique_x64.dll, the companion used by the 64-bit installation. These are application files, not Windows components supplied by Microsoft.

The safest repair order is:
- Repair FL Studio with the official installer.
- Check antivirus quarantine and the FL Studio architecture.
- Confirm that the correct FL Studio shortcut is being used.
- Repair broader Windows components only if other Windows files are also failing.
- Escalate to Image-Line with the exact error and installation details.
Fix 1: Reinstall FL Studio over the existing installation
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the most likely fix for a missing, damaged, mismatched, or partially updated elastique.dll. Image-Line recommends running the current installer over the existing FL Studio installation without uninstalling first. This normally preserves projects, settings, and plugins.
- Save your work and close FL Studio, Edison, and any related Image-Line applications.
- Download the current Windows installer from the official Image-Line FL Studio website.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Follow the installation wizard.
- Keep the normal FL Studio components selected. Do not manually browse for a replacement DLL.
- Allow the installer to use the existing FL Studio installation location when it detects one.
- Restart Windows after the installation finishes.
- Open FL Studio from the newly installed shortcut.
- Check Help > About to confirm which version and architecture is running.
- Test a new project, Edison, and the project that originally produced the error.
A successful repair normally means FL Studio opens without the loader message and audio operations involving pitch or time-stretching work again.

If the error remains, do not assume that the file is fixed merely because elastique.dll now appears in the folder. A DLL can exist but still be corrupted, blocked, incompatible with the executable, or missing a required dependency. Continue with the checks below.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Security software can remove or quarantine a legitimate application file. This is especially worth checking when FL Studio worked before an update, the file repeatedly disappears, or reinstalling appears to restore it temporarily.
Check Windows Security
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Look for an entry naming
elastique.dll,elastique_x64.dll, or the FL Studio installation folder. - Open the detection and record the path before taking action.
Restore the file only when all of the following are true:
- The file came from the official Image-Line installer.
- The detected path is inside the intended FL Studio installation.
- You have confirmed that the security product is treating the official file as a false positive.
If Windows Security offers Allow on device, use that only after verifying the source. Then reinstall FL Studio from Image-Line so the application receives a matching copy.

Do not download a replacement from a DLL directory.
If the file keeps being deleted, leave FL Studio closed, update the security product, and submit the official installer or detection details to the security vendor for review. Repeated deletion does not prove that the file is malicious, but it does mean that blindly restoring copies is unsafe.
Fix 3: Check 32-bit and 64-bit FL Studio installations
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
Image-Line’s file inventory lists both elastique.dll and elastique_x64.dll. That means architecture matters. A 32-bit FL Studio executable and a 64-bit executable may load different companion files.

- Open FL Studio.
- Select Help > About.
- Note whether the running application is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Close FL Studio.
- Right-click the FL Studio shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, inspect the Target path.
- Confirm that the shortcut points to the FL Studio installation you intended to repair.
- If you have multiple FL Studio installations, open each installation folder and identify which executable the shortcut launches.
- Run the current official installer again and select the matching build.
- Replace old desktop or taskbar shortcuts with a shortcut created by the current installation.
Do not rename elastique.dll to elastique_x64.dll, rename the 64-bit file to the standard filename, or substitute one for the other. The files may have different architecture requirements and must match the executable that loads them.
If the error occurs only in 64-bit FL Studio, reinstall the 64-bit build and confirm that elastique_x64.dll is present in the matching application directory. If the error occurs only in an older 32-bit installation, decide whether that old build is still required before repairing it.
Fix 4: Test whether only one project is affected
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
A project-specific failure can reveal when FL Studio first calls the Elastique processing component. Reported problems have appeared while opening demo projects, loading projects that use time-stretching, changing pitch, and manipulating audio after an update.
Use this test:
- Open FL Studio without loading the affected project.
- Create a blank project.
- Add a sample and open the Audio Editor or Edison.
- Change the sample pitch or time-stretch setting.
- Save and close the test project.
- Reopen FL Studio and test the original project.
If the blank project and Edison work but one project fails, the project may use a time-stretching mode or saved state that exposes a damaged or incompatible installation. Reinstall the current FL Studio build, then test the project again.
If every project fails, the problem is more likely to be an incomplete installation, quarantine event, wrong executable, or architecture mismatch.

Fix 5: Repair a legacy FL Studio installation
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Older projects may be opening through an old shortcut or an outdated FL Studio installation whose components no longer match.
- Open FL Studio and select Help > About.
- Record the version shown there.
- Right-click the shortcut you normally use and select Properties.
- Compare its Target path with the installation you recently updated.
- Remove stale shortcuts from the desktop or taskbar after confirming they point to the wrong build.
- Install the current FL Studio release from Image-Line.
- Open the project using the current executable.
- If the project specifically requires an older FL Studio version, obtain that version through Image-Line’s customer archive rather than a file-sharing source.
Keep a backup of projects, custom plugins, templates, and settings before making changes to an old installation. Do not delete the old installation until you know that the project opens correctly in the current one.

Fix 6: Update related drivers only when Windows has broader device problems
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
A graphics, audio, or chipset driver is not the normal cause of a missing private FL Studio DLL. However, driver repair is reasonable when FL Studio also crashes during audio playback, Windows reports device failures, or multiple applications show hardware-related errors.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device and select Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Repeat for relevant graphics devices under Display adapters.
- Restart Windows.
- Test FL Studio again.
If Windows cannot find a driver, download the correct driver from the computer, motherboard, audio-interface, or graphics-device manufacturer. Match the driver to your Windows architecture and hardware model.

Do not use Device Manager to search for elastique.dll. It is not a device driver.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components only if other Windows files are failing
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
System File Checker and DISM normally do not restore a third-party FL Studio DLL. Use them when Windows itself has failed updates, protected-file errors, or unrelated applications reporting damaged system components.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC.
- Open Start and search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the command to finish.
- In the same elevated window, run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test FL Studio again.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command is a substitute for reinstalling FL Studio, and a successful SFC result does not prove that elastique.dll is healthy.

Before uninstalling, copy or verify:
- FL Studio projects
- Custom samples
- Templates
- Plugin installers
- Custom plugin folders
- Presets and settings you cannot recreate
Then:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for FL Studio.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the correct installation.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the current installer from Image-Line.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Install the matching FL Studio build.
- Restore custom content only after confirming that FL Studio opens normally.
If the problem still occurs after a clean official installation, gather the FL Studio version, Windows version, exact error text, installation path, architecture, and whether the file is physically present. Contact Image-Line support with those details.

The wording does not change the ownership: this is an FL Studio repair problem, not a Windows DLL replacement problem.
What not to do
Do not download elastique.dll from a random DLL website. A standalone copy may contain malware, belong to another FL Studio release, use the wrong architecture, or fail because the installation has additional damaged files.
Do not copy it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. The file belongs with FL Studio and must match the application build.
Do not run:
regsvr32 elastique.dll
regsvr32 is for DLLs that support the expected registration mechanism, such as certain COM or ActiveX components. There is no public evidence that FL Studio’s private Elastique runtime is an independently registered component. Registration will generally fail or accomplish nothing useful.

What is elastique_x64.dll?

Should I copy the file from another computer?
