To pan the camera freely in Elden Ring for screenshots, use Logersnamed’s third-party Free Camera mod. It detaches the camera from your character and, according to its Nexus Mods description, adds tools for framing cinematic pictures and videos. It is a community mod—not an official FromSoftware photo mode—and its setup involves a DLL mod loader and disabling Easy Anti-Cheat.
What the Elden Ring Free Camera mod does
Logersnamed describes Free Camera as “A photomode mod for Elden Ring that detaches camera from the player.” The separation lets you move the viewpoint independently to compose a shot. The mod’s description also lists these features:

- Change weather and time of day.
- Teleport the player to the camera’s location.
- Step through frames and save or load camera states with interpolation.
- Record camera paths and control movement speed.
- Adjust field of view and automatically remove the HUD.
- Disable or enable player controls, use a gamepad, and configure keybinds.

Use the free camera to position the shot, adjust speed for finer movement, and change the field of view to alter how much of the scene fits in frame. The mod description also mentions frame stepping and recorded paths for video work.
Version and Elden Ring compatibility notes
The Nexus Mods listing reviewed here shows Freecam v2.0.3, last updated 29 August 2026. Its version history says v2.0.2 was updated for Elden Ring v1.17; v2.0.3 added options to remove vignette and chromatic aberration. These are the listing’s version notes, not a guarantee that the mod works with every game build or configuration. Check the Nexus Mods files and version history before installing.

The author’s page says the mod was tested with EldenModLoader, modengine2, me3, Windows, and Linux, and says it works with Seamless Co-op and ER Reforged. Treat those as author-provided compatibility claims; your results may depend on the game version, loader, and other installed mods. The project also provides installation guidance in its GitHub repository.
How to install Free Camera
The mod page’s general setup is to disable Easy Anti-Cheat, install a compatible DLL mod loader, put the mod files in the location required by that loader, then launch Elden Ring. The exact file and configuration steps differ for EldenModLoader, modengine2, and me3, so use the current instructions for the loader you choose rather than mixing their setup steps.

- Read the current mod and loader instructions. Confirm the files and steps for your Elden Ring version and chosen loader on the mod page and the loader’s own documentation.
- Disable Easy Anti-Cheat as instructed. The mod listing recommends using a tool such as Anti-Cheat Toggler. Follow that tool’s current instructions; do not assume this makes online play safe or guarantees a particular account outcome.
- Install a supported DLL mod loader. The listing names EldenModLoader, modengine2, and me3, with different file and configuration steps for each.
- Install Free Camera through the loader. Place the mod files and configure them according to the instructions for that specific loader.
- Launch the game and test the camera controls. The listed default toggle is F1. If the mod does not load or the controls differ, check the loader setup and
config.iniagainst the current mod-page instructions.
Online play and safety considerations
Because the stated setup disables Easy Anti-Cheat and loads third-party DLL mods, do not treat it as an approved online-play configuration. The mod page’s claims about compatibility with Seamless Co-op or other mods do not establish that every online mode, setup, or account outcome is safe. Follow the current instructions from the mod and loader authors, and avoid using a modified setup in online play unless the relevant guidance explicitly supports your intended use.
