Mohg is at the end of Mohgwyn Palace; after defeating him, touch the arm extending from Miquella’s cocoon to enter the Realm of Shadow in Shadow of the Erdtree.
How to reach Mohg, Lord of Blood
Mohg is at the end of Mohgwyn Palace. There are two documented routes into the palace:

| Consecrated Snowfield | Use the Sending Gate in the Consecrated Snowfield to reach the palace. |
Bandai Namco documents both routes, but does not establish which is faster or easier, or recommend a character level for either one. Bandai Namco’s guide to starting Shadow of the Erdtree explains the routes and the post-boss progression.
What to bring to the fight
Mohg’s Shackle: restrain him in the first phase
Find Mohg’s Shackle in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds beneath Leyndell. It can temporarily restrict Mohg during the first half of the fight, and PlayStation recommends using it up to twice. It is a brief control tool, not a way to skip the encounter.

Purifying Crystal Tear: prepare for the transition
Add the Purifying Crystal Tear to your Flask of Wondrous Physick and drink it during Mohg’s transition to the second phase. PlayStation recommends it to help prevent the transition attack from being nearly fatal. It addresses that transition threat; it does not protect you from every attack in phase two.
Lord of Blood’s Exultation: an optional attack boost
If you want an additional offensive option, Lord of Blood’s Exultation boosts attack power when blood loss occurs. Obtain it by defeating Esgar, Priest of Blood, in Leyndell Catacombs. This is optional preparation, not a requirement for beating Mohg.

How to approach the fight
- Use the Shackle during the first half. Activate Mohg’s Shackle when you want a temporary opening, up to twice. Do not assume it will restrain him throughout the fight.
- Drink the Physick for the phase transition. With the Purifying Crystal Tear equipped, use the Flask of Wondrous Physick as Mohg transitions to phase two to mitigate the transition attack.
- Continue the fight with your normal strategy. The Shackle and Tear address specific moments; neither replaces dodging, healing, or responding to Mohg’s attacks. These sources do not provide verified attack-by-attack timings, so avoid relying on an exact timing or a purported guaranteed outcome.
What defeating Mohg unlocks
After the fight, interact with the arm hanging from Miquella’s cocoon. This begins Shadow of the Erdtree and takes you into the Realm of Shadow. Defeating Mohg is therefore the required progression step for entering that expansion area.
